Hard Drive Based Content

I have a non gaming laptop in which I have some VR content that is on an SD card plugged into the laptop.

Is it possible the view the content via a datalink cable direct from the SD drive?

Also, I am thinking about setting up a home network that I can connect the headset to and stream the content on the SD drive over my home wifi rather than having to connect to the laptop directly via the data link cable.

Are either of the above possible?

If it's video content, the program Skybox VR (very good video player) has a wifi streaming option. You run a little Skybox host program on your laptop and tell it which files or directories to make available. The headset version of Skybox can then find and connect to it over wifi.

(Skybox does cost money, but it's good)
