I contacted Meta support about a problem with the trigger button sensor not working properly when using the Quest3 controller. (I have my finger on it, but the sensor frequently recognizes that my finger is off) They shared with me how to reset the controller, but even when I followed the instructions, the actual behavior differed from what was described. They said like this: <How to reset the Quest 3 controller to factory settings 1. On the right controller, hold down the A button and tap the Home (meta logo) button 5 times. ※For the left button, use the X button and the menu button. 2. The LED will flash orange/white while the reset to factory defaults is being performed. 3. The LED will turn light blue during startup. 4. Once the startup is complete, the controller can be used again as normal. However, the lamp never glowed orange or blue when operated as described, but only glowed the same way as if another button had been pressed. I repeatedly asked them if the operating procedures were correct, only to have them insist that they were. I also asked them to show me a video of the actual operation, but they refused to do so. Do you all follow the above procedure and does the relevant function work properly? I don't know if this is only a problem with the JP version or not, but no matter how many times I try, the lamp never glows a different color than usual.

Currently, users cannot launch the home screen with only one controller paired, and there is no alternative option to configure hand tracking if no controllers are paired during the initial setup of Meta Quest 2 and Quest 3. Challenges: This setup requirement creates issues for users in the following scenarios: 1. Single Functional Controller: Users who have only one functional controller face difficulties proceeding to the home screen. 2. Preference for Hand Tracking: Some users prefer hand tracking for navigation, but there is no straightforward way to configure it during the initial setup. 3. App Installation Hurdle: While stuck in the paired controller step, users cannot install apps via the Meta Quest app. Proposed Improvements: To enhance accessibility and accommodate a wider range of user needs, consider the following enhancements: 1. Hand Tracking Setup Alongside Controller Pairing: - During the first-time setup process, introduce both hand tracking configuration and controller pairing options. - Allow users to choose their preferred method (controllers or hand tracking) right from the beginning. 2. Skip Controller Pairing: - If no controllers are available, provide an option to skip controller pairing altogether. - Direct users to set up hand tracking instead. 3. Single Controller Scenario: - If only one controller is connected, enable skipping the pairing step. - Offer an option to configure hand tracking as an alternative. 4. Maintain Current Method for Dual Controllers: - For users with both controllers paired, continue with the existing setup process. Benefits: - Increased Accessibility: Users with varying needs can easily proceed with setup. - Enhanced User Experience: A smoother initial setup process. - Flexibility: Accommodates those who prefer hand tracking or have limited controller availability.

My helmet was basically a brick this morning when Meta servers went down (Mar 5, 2024 Outage). Please make whatever adjustments need to be made so that loss of backend servers doesn't make our devices expensive paper weights. Thank You

It's really annoying to have the controllers popping up on the screen while you're in the middle of watching a video. It would be nice to be able to completely disable controllers and hand tracking. Of course, one problem would be once you do this and you no longer have your controllers how do you reenable them? One solution might be that when the controllers and hand tracking are completely disabled, a quick push on the power button would reenable them.

This has been a hotbed subject over on the help forums. Below is a link to that discussion. Long story short, Parents of child accounts (10-12) cannot interact with their children due to the restrictions on social for those accounts. However, any game that has multiplayer (which is most of them) allows child accounts to interact with any stranger. Children are being subjected to sexual content, Foul language, and bullying. I know the simple answer is... don't let them play multiplayer. Or just report the bad people. But the right answer is to let parents approve contacts so that our kids can play games with parents and brothers and sisters and close friends instead. Trusted Contacts already exists for teen accounts, and the approval process is also already a thing, since parents must approve every app install. Meta is a social company, first and foremost. So multiplayer is at the core of the quest ecosystem. This is unnacceptable that children are protected from being able to play with people they trust and are only allowed to play with complete strangers. Here is the forum post with the full story from your users: https://communityforums.atmeta.com/t5/Get-Help/Child-account-Multiplayer/m-p/1126456#M257328

The gaze cursor disrupts multiple use cases for the Quest. It ruins both gamepad usage and passive applications like video apps.
I understand that this is a "safety" feature to allow for an option when all connected controllers are not available (broken, stolen, etc.). A good option would be to allow disabling the feature until the next time the device wakes from sleep or powers on. If that's not possible, maybe a way to temporarily disable a controller from sleeping (which is what causes the gaze cursor to appear during passive apps). Gamepad input should be sufficient to make selections in the UI, so it should count as a connected controller and not cause the gaze cursor to activate.
Please do something. Let us know it's on the backlog and not being treated as a "feature" that we are stuck with forever.

I play an online game with friends natively on quest 3, we talk via discord or meta calls and it works. Both of these apps are running in the background, but when I try to record a video, only my microphone and the sound of the game are heard, but not the sounds of the background app (communication). The latest firmware version. Suggestion: make it so that sounds from background apps go to the screen recording https://communityforums.atmeta.com/t5/Get-Help/The-sound-of-background-applications-is-not-recorded-on-video/m-p/1144836#M269234

Seems like a no-brainer to allow an exFAT formatted USB C flash drive just plug in and work with the Quest 3 for browsing and transferring files. It's surprising such a basic feature is left out.

Love that we can now watch spatial videos (when that finishes rolling out). Would love same for panoramic photos shot on iPhone, like Apple Vision Pro.

Right now you can only stretch the windows in a fixed resolution ratio. If you grab the corners and try to stretch it horizontally it will automatically stretch it to vertically aswell. Please add an option in the settings where i can individually stretch the windows in every direction, while im in passthrough or in the menu.

Hello Meta Team, I am writing to propose a new feature for the Meta Quest: a widget system with a corresponding developer API. This feature would allow users to customize their VR experience by adding informational or interactive elements to their home environment or within specific applications. On the developer side developers have the ability to access the feature and craft there own widgets with an api interface. the widgets can be immersive, 2d and window only like a simple ui to represent some information or both. The User also should can drag and place his widgets in his own favour in his virtual reality/augmented reality space. In the system controls should be an option to control the access rights of the regarding app/widget and also some additional options like: showing only when (time is ..., notification was send ..., timer is set ..., etc.). There are also some other cool additional features which you can provide additional into the widget feature but i think you can figure them out by your self. For example: A application developer should be able to create a widget which contains an animated 3d cloud which shows the corresponding fitting animation/state regarding the weather information in the application. Beside there should be a little window with more detailed information about the weather like degrees, humidy, wind speed etc. Best regards, Patrick Schnitzer Application Developer

It would be great to have a way to write a driver, background application, or similar to allow producers of VR locomotion devices to add support for their devices to any Meta Quest game with smooth locomotion. Examples of these devices include the Kat Walk C, Virtuix Omni, Omni One, Freeaim VR Shoes, Cybershoes, and Cyberith Virtualizer. The Kat Walk C and Cybershoes has support for some Quest games, but in order to do so they have to reach out to individual developers to do one of two options. First, integrate an SDK into the game itself. Second, update the game to support bluetooth gamepads, and then the peripheral device emulates a gamepad. The disadvantage of the latter approach is HMD position and rotation data can't be sent to the peripheral device. Both approaches are not scalable.

It's rediculous that masculine features are not considered, while every avatar body has breasts or a female formed body. Cant both types coexist, or is being male frowned upon at meta?

Hi Quest users, and Meta staff! I know that for security reasons apps canno access camera and ToF sensor data, i understand this decision, and I find it reasonable, but... Can we get app from Meta or additional mode in camera app that will allow us to scan objects or enviroments and export point cloud data, preferably to PCD format from Point Cloud Library for external use? It is such a shame that we have this limitation, when Quest 3 has stereo RGB cameras and ToF sensor Regards
