Rift Dev Exchange?

Hi

I think that today there are two camps around virtual reality, developers and consumers.

Soon many people are going to have Dk2, many of them will be FANs of Virtual reality and will demo their units or just go ahead and play on them.

One of the things that I think is important about virtual reality is that we are definitely one, about it, about it's necessity, its wanting need, its emotional impact and ability to community education, facts, distance, space, every thing! Virtual reality is basically awesome but we cant easily make our dreams come true in it easily.

Ill give an example.

Say you wanted to don a DK1, or Dk2 and attend Woodstock. Or watch the hindenburg disaster, or splice the eath into cross section for a high school narration of the earths crust and fly by, walk through.

How would you do that?

There are people here that are magic, they can open up their VR development Engine tools, their AUDIO development tools, and in short order creating highly impacting interactions with the Oculus.

What I would like to see is a market place that would allow people to easily group up about common themes and allow people with money to put weight behind experiences, for people to be able to easily find employment and their time and efforts no matter their geographic location, if special be hired and commissioned towards some virtual reality experience be it superficial a pleasantry, or an involved meaningful educational experience.

No examples are required because obviously several of us want to experience this or that.

Where is the Oculus Rift kicker start page for sub tasks of wanted virtual reality pursuits?

If facebook wants to know how to re-coop its money its that today from 2014 onwards, people need to be given a chance to voice their desires, wants, their heartfelt donations of time and meaning, not every thing is about money, its about meaning, people learn the piano for what reason? emotional sharing is endless and important, neglecting peoples longing to communicate, share, and BUILD is a mistake.

Virtual reality today has no market place of commissioning engaging, dream building, fostering, following, nurturing.
There is not a frame work for 5, 10, 20 people to engage in a pursuit under the care of Oculus, the iTunes delivery of item to others, the appeal of good for all through virtual reality has some consideration for its fathers.

People on the whole are good and do good, it might not seem like that but its the truth and this media is going to brush right up against several pillars of what is working and what is not and wise guidance about virtualizing should be engaged not to limit but to allow and to amplify the good of this media.

Lets have an example... Should the developer of lunar flight(shovsoft.com) had to do this as I believe it as a one man band? were was a support means for this guy that basically made pure 100 % magic in the rift?

People are passionate about things, space, military history, vehicle maintenance, there is a disparity to humanity that is unpredictable but needs to be captured.

If I was working at Oculus Rift, or facebook I would be looking at how the erstwhile common threads of thought can be captured and matured into truly magnificent experiences in this new "NOT DIGITALLY HOMELESS LANDSCAPE".

Please can you masters out there enable us people to have a voice about what we want to see.

You guys are missing a trick, just like Sony missed a trick hiding their technology for their execs to play about with and not share.

We have to share, its important. Virtual realty is not about being isolated. it is about being even MORE connected, please people remember this, virtual reality needs its support in how people can share, like a flower opens, people that are working on this now need to do it with monetary gain as a side.

If any one wants to set up a basically web site all rights reserved to Oculus that allows people to group around common narrative chart of things wanting to be seen in Oculus rift I will pay for it up to £300 for a web designer to do it.

Its not about money... this is technology that is going to change humanity and we all have a part to it.

Thanks bud01 for posting this. I had a lot of the same thoughts and ideas as you and was building towards something similar last year, but I ended up putting it on hold. I actually still control a very appropriate domain name for something like this.

What you're seeking though seems to be something similar to ebay, odesk, or freelancer, in that people would register and post advertisements and bid on projects in a kickstarter-like way. I think that would be too expensive to develop for you since you would also need a backend developer, not just a designer. Then there's hosting and domain costs. I wouldn't make something like this on a cheap $5/month shared webhost. I would go with some kind of cloud vps.

The shortest path to something useful would probably be a simple directory of known/trusted developers who declare that they're available for hire. That's sort of what the collaboration subforum has evolved into.

I want this to go in the right direction.

This is not for profit and shall be for developers to meet people that want experiences to be crafted and once a set number of people shall request it the developers will be commissioned to make it happen and there shall be a history of good dev teams.

There can be category's of projects like,
Sci-fi
Nature
Education
And just wild card stuff.

I will have money for internet site dev and traffic 1st of Aug.

List of experiences wanted to be created will be able to be submitted on the front page of the site and tallied up.
Has any one got any ideas for this, lets just do it.

Here are some ideas for a VR experience.

Integrated chips :are down to very large scale integration now, how about a VR inspection of a blue print of an Intergrated circuit, so students can marvel at the amazing city type scape's of the integrated circuit?

Great fire of London: From a short walk around a typical day in old London to the night that London became a city of fire, from a far to up close see how the city burned.

Earth from space (like blue marble) but through out different periods in mans history and the ablity to drop into earth and see various forms of life through different periods?

Orbits: From the very large to the very small the ability to see orbits of planets through to the atomic orbits of materials,

This is just me thinking for one minute.

How about a teacher in virtual reality that is a virtual language teacher, you pick a langage and a setting and you have to go through a course that requires you to say and interact correct with the langage or you do not continue.

Electrons don't actually orbit around molecules, they teleport in a complicated way around them. I'm not even sure electrons even interact at one specific location or if they follow some weird quantum physics rule instead. And unlike a planet, it's not conservation of angular momentum that stops electrons from crashing into the nucleus, it's the rules of quantum physics that only allow certain positions. Anyway, since they are constantly moving, people visualise them as an electron cloud rather than individual electrons. So I don't think it makes sense to do a simulation of both kinds of orbits, which are actually almost completely different. Scale does matter because different laws of physics apply at different scales.

I like the idea though.
