BLACK MARK ON THIS BOARD AND OCULUS - Will i recommend a product like this?

PITTCANNA
Level 14

I can't hold back anymore.  While I was not affected by the logout and duplication (database deletion/bug).  This must be the biggest misstep in oculus history.  This board is terrible, and customer relations are TERRIBLE, even if users were not directly affected by THE COMPLETE INCOMPETENCE ON THE BACKEND SERVER MANAGEMANT TEAM, this should push the issue for FACEBOOK GETTING THE HECK OUT OCULUS PERIOD.  While users are mishandling the situation to a certain degree, I cannot in good conscious blame them, it was clearly a fault with oculus team and there appointed members that should bear the responsibility of the SEVERE BLACK MARK ON OCULUS.

Lets all agree the mods, support and admins are directly responsible for the downfall of this forum. I can't stress how much all the PR team and oculus appointed staff mods, admins etc are 100% in the wrong for the handling of this black mark on the oculus brand.

  • if you didn't search twitter users would have been screwed
  • no official statement on the oculus website
  • no official statement on facebook page or the actual twitter page
  • I am calling bs on Oculus Ryan, who has done an unbelievable disservice to this board and community for not getting a lid on it
  • Moving threads into a misidentified topic that really is just bitch-fest at this point for disgruntled users
  • The mods and admins should be posting real information as to was caused the stain on oculus legacy
  • How the hell am i supposed to recommend this device if the people appointed to educate the users are doing a terrible job
  • A pinned thread created a good 8 hours after the rampant issue took place
  • Even the pinned thread really doesn't discuss sufficient steps to contact users

I CAN NOT IN GOOD FAITH THINK THE MODS AND ADMINS ARE ACTUALLY FIT TO RUN THIS BOARD. OVER THE PAST WEEK THERE COMPLETE INABILITY STOP MISINFORMANTION, CALM THE USERS, GAIN BACK THE USER TRUST, AND DO THE JOB OF THE FACE OF THE COMMUNITY HAS BEEN COMPLETELY BELOW PAR.

Apparently my forum account I have been using since Jan 2017 is lost and permanently gone. Granted this is a different thing as to what many others have been experiencing with no access to their games. But it is kind of a personal thing for me and a bit of a sting.

I have to wonder why my particular forum account got deleted though whilst other long time forum users, did not.  That is something I guess I will never know.

So today I got an email from Oculus. It stated that they had experienced unexpected account issues recently and as a result my credit card on file was removed. However they have been able to restore my credit card information to my Oculus account so there is no action I need to take.

Really Oculus? You lose all my account information going back to Jan 2017 but somehow magically you were able to restore my lost credit card information. But my historical forum account going back to Jan 2017 is permanently gone. Wow.

Nope, I am realistic. You are simply not reading and understanding what I'm saying. And I have run a company before; it lasted quite a few years with great success 😎

If we are judging our ability to run a company successfully based on forum behavior, then it would seem that if you ran a company, you would handle every crisis by making it worse. Your approach to problem resolution involves:

  • Yelling
  • Exaggerating
  • Gas lighting
  • Insulting

It would be safe to say that if we both ran a company, mine would at least get off the ground, whereas yours would likely be stuck in a perpetual state of self-defeat.

But alas, this is just another red herring. You seem to introduce a lot of these as an attempt to avoid the real issue. A common theme in these threads 🙃

So are you yelling, exaggerating, gas lighting, and insulting everyone in the process? Including those you believe responsible for the defect?

I am surprised if you were able to get away with such behavior for so long. Or do you act more professionally in your real world job, and reserve this negative behavior for the forum persona? 🤔

I would rank 2-3 years as a forum newbie, and many VR enthusiasts (myself included) have spent significantly more money on VR than a mere $2,000. Not that it matters, as this type of "VR resume" doesn't give anyone more or less credibility to the subject at hand.

It is one's knowledge, experience, and behavior that speaks to their credibility. And as you have made clear, your credibility is dictated by your knowledge, experience, and behavior only around: yelling, insulting, gas lighting, and exaggerating.

Besides, I would argue that you are in fact sticking your head in the sand as evident by how much you are ignoring in order to continue with your gas lighting. There isn't much need for me to back up anything since you aren't addressing actual facts. I am not a white knight, as I am not defending the company. A fact that is observably true, a fact I keep repeating, and a fact you either intentionally ignore or are simply highly confused about.

Observing your gas lighting <> White Knighting the company

🙂

Oculus is not sitting on the issue, and I am not downplaying the issue. So your little insult applies 100% to you and 0% to me 😎

Yet nobody is being silence. So this is just more hyperbole and self-imposed delusion on your part.

Well yes, it is obvious you are doing all this yelling, insulting, exaggerating, and gas lighting for the sole purpose of pandering to the lowest common denominator and getting those upvotes. I've been on this forum for over 6 years, and the angry rant posts like yours always get the most upvotes. If the upvotes make you feel credible, then... yay for you? lol

Besides, I see who upvotes your posts on this matter, and it tends to be the same people who have maintained an angry stance against Oculus for the last few years, so nothing really new or special about it.  But again, if the upvotes make you feel good, then cool 😜

Amen brother! Oculus lost all my historical forum data and it is gone permanently yet somehow they managed to restore my credit card info that got lost in all this mess. They informed me of this by email today. How convenient. But all my forum account history - poof gone. Sorry.

This whole thing has been one big cluster mess from the get go. And other than here it has been conveniently buried in a Quest 2 thread where the OP had nothing to do with this mess, and was posted way earlier than when this even happened. Makes one wonder doesn't it.

Think I am going to let them hold on to my credit card info that they "lost" and somehow magically recovered? Not a chance. Delete delete delete! Just like they did years worth of all my forum account data.

Heres the deal, your just clueless.  And its a state of the times.

  • Youtube removing dislikes
  • all websites removing dissenting statments
  • people being removed from platforms

Your so full of **bleep** you have no idea what your talking about.  Lets take GT7 as a case study, it has a long storied history over 7 gens, but a few updates within a 2 weeks manage to bring a games rating from high 8's to 1.7 and lower. Enconomy system **bleep**ed, online **bleep**ed, drm **bleep**ed, 30 hours of offline, where you can't play a game solo.

Look at the end result, people took to the forums voiced there disdain for an obviously **bleep**ty move, and got a free ticket for 1 million in game creds, (10 dollar value), and there going to be rolling out more content, and solo player solution.

The problem is with oculus there is no way to globally rate it, like a video game. I gave my positive rating a long time ago for this system, amazon and on facebook.  But a few huge missteps and i can't wait for the day were steam gets serious and takes it on.  I am not going to be spending a single dime on new games, becuase of a fear over database issues.

Denial of a problem is the worst thought.

Funny how you accuse someone of being clueless, and then follow up by introducing arguments (e.g. youtube dislikes, website comments removal) that are 100% clueless to the topic at hand. 😂

As I have shown several times throughout our exchanges, you seem to accuse others of the very traits you yourself possess. Just about all of your angry rants are you merely "projecting."

Pot/Kettle. I am talking about your approach to the Oculus account loss situation. And your approach involves yelling, insulting, exaggerating, and gas lighting. Whereas you are now talking about... YouTube and random Websites removing comments? Seems you're the one who has no idea what is being talked about 🙂

Hmm, your own behavior seems to indicate otherwise. You recently started a thread where you proclaimed that you were leaving the forum; only you never left and instead did the exact opposite by posting even more. So now you claim you're going to stop spending money on Oculus products? I guess that means you'll... do the opposite and end up spending even more money on Oculus products? 😗

@PITTCANNA wrote:

I never denied the problem. A fact I have to repeat in each reply since you can't seem to understand it.

Let me try to be clear, to see if it helps you with this understanding:

  • Meta screwed up
  • The account data loss could have been avoided
  • The account data loss should have been fixed faster

There is no excuse for the handling of this situation by Meta.

However, none of that has anything to do with the issue being discussed in this thread, which is the issue of you taking this bad situation and trying to make it worse... by yelling, insulting, exaggerating, and gas lighting.
