Oculus Quest 2 Windows 11 Performance. can never hit maximum FPS with link cable.

I decided to give windows 11 a go and everything on my PC is working flawlessly apart from one big one... Oculus Link performance. Before I go back to windows 10 I wonder if anyone has figured this out already.

Oculus software works fine and the Quest 2 link connects, but it can never hit the required fps settings no matter what they are. So if I have link set to 90hz, then in game it will be about 82-85fps and stuttering, it never hits 90fps even though the game says its locked at 90 on my monitors no problem, and I have loads of headroom in performance monitor (I have a 5900x and RTX 3090!) - If i use the 120hz option then i will get about 105fps but never 120. Even if i choose 72hz ill get about 65fps. super annoying.

I went onto the beta channel on the software and got the latest updates but still no luck.

I dont mind going back to windows 10 and i get windows 11 might not be ready yet, but literally EVERYTHING else on my pc works fine, only the vr performance, so its a shame. Any ideas of things to try before I reinstall windows 10?

Even with the v34 software update the patch notes state:

Link and Air Link
  • We’ve enabled secure pairing for Air Link to enhance security and improve your experience for Air Link. Users who have V34 on both Quest and PC will experience a new and improved pairing flow for launching into Air Link.

  • For best performance on Link and Air Link, please use Windows 10. Windows 11 is not yet supported with our Oculus PC software.

Yes, that's a known statement by Oculus. What is surprising is that they didn't prepare their software in advance of the release of Windows 11. Users buying new systems will have Windows 11 installed and if they want to do Link VR with Quest they will encounter issues. They should have started development months ago. Or at least release a patch for the frame rate drop with Link.

It's a laugh in front of our faces from Oculus.  We already know what is going on, at least show some dignity and post here OCULUS SUPPORT.  The software is running just fine if we see the console.  FIX IT!

I upgraded back to windows 11, as it works so well with everything else and I’m used to it at work from the last three months now…. I found a solution for the stuttering vr… I just purchased a HP Reverb G2 instead for pc vr which works flawlessly. 😂 - the  quest 2 will go back in the box and forgotten about now for a while I think.

Yeah, once Valve releases their standalone headset it's a "bye bye" to Oculus for me as well.

Oculus Quest 2, Ryzen 7 5800x, 32GB RAM, RTX 3090.

Yes, with this sorts of things they are pushing us to search for other solutions.

I can confirm that having the latest PTC version of the Oculus software and the latest Windows 11 updates (including optional, as mentioned in the article) does not fix the problem. I still have to open the console to get a smooth frame rate. It would be great if that Upload VR article mentioned the actual update number since it might be possible it is not yet showing for me, but we'll see come November 9.

Yes. I believe the update is to drop starting the 9th as well as Meta updating quest performance.

It would stand to reason Meta was waiting for the Windows side fixes.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, I think you need to check the article you posted again. The workaround is still needed as VirtualHCG just said.
