This update broke any bitrate over 500 (with link cable). I had no issues before v53 but now I get lags and visual artifacts if I set my bitrate over 500. It is very annoying because I can only play with a much poorer quality now. My Headset is the Quest Pro and GPU RX 6900XT.

I have had the same issue now for over a week, with PTC or no PTC on the Oculus client.  Clean install on safe mode in Windows 11.  UAC changes so no blockers during install.  I have all the latest drivers and my system is an Intel  i9-13900HX with a RTX 4080 with 12 GB GDDR6 dedicated graphics memory and 64GB of RAM... this is not a system issue.  If you use virtual desktop with wireless there is no issue so you know v53 broke the pc app and nothing has been done about it thus far....

I'm not part of this PTC but received the v.53 update today along with updates to my controllers. Since the update, my controllers are reporting that they are getting warm and will shut down within 5 minutes of me opening any game. In addition, I'm getting "controller lost connection" messages as well. These issues are being reported on Reddit and elsewhere. Please fix them. I'm concerned about the overheating message I'm getting regarding my controllers.

I have had a ticket open for the past four weeks. It gets updated now and then to tell me that it's still being investigated. Meanwhile, my gaming workouts are severely affected by the right controller disconnecting every five minutes and the left controller pretty regularly reporting that it's getting warm and will shut down within 5 minutes of turning on the headset.

I can confirm that after upgrading to public v53 I also see artifacts on the right side of my peripheral vision when using Air Link.
They look like flashing white dots, short lines or small spots.

Quick update on my Quest Pro tracking issues (controllers don’t track at all after update)

Switching the router from WPA3 to WPA2 brought back the controller but only in 3DOF mode (so no 6DOF tracking)

The warranty replacement headset works flawlessly even after it updated itself to v43.

The old controller works well with the new pro headset.

The old controllers stop working when re-paired with the old headset (also on released v43)

Interesting! I should have mentioned that I also had to factory reset my headset after switching to WPA 2 (otherwise it would still be bricked), but from then on my headset has been fine. Not sure if you have tried that yet.

After getting the v53 update today now I can no longer connect my headset to my PC.  The option that should appear to either Allow or Deny the connection no longer appears and it simply charges the headset instead.

V53

Quest Pro + Link = Very weak haptics.

Using Beat Saber as an example the haptic feedback of the controllers is maybe 10% of what it used to be, so almost non-existent. Can confirm that playing stand alone Beat Saber works just as it should with strong haptic feedback.

I use this setup almost daily and no other setting have changed except for the update to V53 (to my knowledge).  For clarity: Using original Link cable.

I just lost my Home - Home no longer starts after the v. 53 update - this is completely unacceptable - no warning. Had my awesome Oculus Home for 5 years!

Why destroy things that many users love?

This for sure is not the way to get more happy Meta users. I hope this is an error and that we won't stay homeless for long!

I've posted about this severe issue on Reddit:

luckily on my Quest 2 I blocked the os updates and saved it from v53 and later problems.
unfortunately the oculus pc software has been updated to v53 and the home screen no longer opens for me, even if I want to open it manually with an exe file.
maybe not everyone appreciated it but the home was the only way to find yourself in a personalized virtual environment without having to resort to alternatives such as steam vr, very valid but still an alternative to what Meta should offer natively.
I hope they are quietly working on some plot twist and not revealing anything for commercial reasons.
for me the experience with Meta is getting more and more disappointing.

i wish i did, but yea, also v53 pcvr software, so that sucks. luckily i use oculus homeless on tray tool lol, white background to squeeze every last bit of performance out of my setup. my home has a boatload of stuff, even a golden dk2 statue from when i had one, just not my thing. i should have stopped updates by disabling the app, but i figured any standalone issues would be something i could wait for, unfortunately they messed up link tho and many things with the headset.

Here's another thread focused on Meta destroying homes - where Meta explains why homes were removed, or maybe more precisely fails to explain that...

https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/13ka8or/home_removal_confirmed_by_support/

It just adds to reasons of avoiding Meta (for PCVR), sadly. Also Echo VR is closing, and the PCVR desktop app really has not been updated since summer 2021. Nvidia 4000 and AMD 7000 video cards still are not supported, also goes for new cpus.

Some newer Intel cpus could not start Home due to some incompatibility, I'm thinking that Meta took the easy way by disabling all Homes instead of fixing the software error. Seems like Meta is not going to spend a dime on PCVR - for years all PCVR games in the Rift have been at full price with no discounts.

Closing homes just feels like another step for Meta in abandoning PCVR.

Personally I got the Index and the PSVR2 - why not get rid of my Rift CV1 and abandon Meta totally? But I still use my Rift CV1 a lot - I consider it better than Index and PSVR2 in many ways. Meta made the most awesome content - my Rift Library is the same size as my SteamVR library (200 games and apps in each).  I use Rift CV1 for a recent game like Propagation: Paradise Hotel and even for Hubris.

Meta could be the king of high-end, medium-end and low-end VR, for now they only care for lowest-end mobile VR, sadly, while Valve gets no competition at the high-end.

Right now my thread about broken Meta homes has about 75.000 views and 95% upvotes - please, dear Meta Support, let your engineers know what they have done:

Meta Support frequently has stated that we should have fun, good times and enjoy ourselves in VR - and so goes for our time spent in this forum. Destroying homes is a great way to kill fun and reduce the good times being in VR. 2c.

My impression is that you people are so out of touch with reality I have no idea how you function on a daily basis in the real world.

PUT HOME BACK THE WAY IT WAS NOBODY, NOT A SINGLE PERSON, ASKED YOU LOT TO COMPLETELY RUIN YEARS OF HARD WORK!

How's that for feedback? Now, ignore it like you do with everything!

here's what's left of my oculus home.
Although I previously backed up the home folder when the Oculus pc software was still in v51 (and the home still opened "by hand"), it now starts, but ends up in grey.
I read around the web of happy people that the home is gone.
Maximum respect for their point of view but Meta should take note that there are many people who like it. Moreover, the absence of a virtual environment is quite embarrassing. a suite of the pcvr sector cannot be limited to a meager dashboard in a colorless environment.
especially when the home was there, it didn't bother, it didn't affect performance, and those who didn't like it simply had to block its automatic start.
At least for me it's a big step backwards. both for the act itself of having eliminated it, and for the way it was done, without even deigning to share the idea of wanting to do so.
I was really about to buy a Quest Pro as well, and another Quest 2 to get some family and friends involved but I had to stop. At the moment I only perceive great confusion and I don't think it's time to spend money until there is the semblance of a finished product.
