PTC v55 Release Megathread

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v55 is starting to roll out for Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 soon. Thanks everyone for all your feedback on our previous builds, we several bugs were identified in the last PTC and the solutions for some have shipped, while others are on the way!

Let's use this thread for collecting feedback on v55. Share your impressions and let us know if you see any issues. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting here if you notice anything going wrong.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

have you fixed on this new version the stutters/lags on airlink v53 official and v54 beta?

v54 was so broken that i had to use ptc v55 (which i was so unwilling to) but v54 was disconnecting so often that its not useable. hopeing v55 will be better?  still disconnect frequently and even the controller is floating around. its so disappointing that from a everyday quest user. to almost wanna just throwing this whole bs away. if the itention is to turn current user and consumers to other provider? meta has definitley made it work. its just so fed up with each update being worse than the previous one.

Yes, v54 was unusable for me either. I've updated to v55 PTC for the same reason to at least be able to use the headset. Have you tried to re-pair controllers, it helped me to make it stable on v55, now things looks good so far.

I sure would love to be able to choose which driver I want to use and download. V51 awesome, V53 (Currently on) white flicker spots in right lense and Airlink cutouts. V54 hearing also causes airlink cutouts. V55 is rumored to be 26 percent performance boost. Sigh, i just want my PC VR back the way it was. Please allow us to choose which driver as well as the ability to rollback to any driver I want. Seriously love the hardware and software but tired of being ignored and not having simple practices that could avoid as of this.

I can't believe they didn't fix this yet.

Would be nice if some kind of release notes could be published.
Then we could actively test stuff. It's not a scipt kiddy that publishes something on a forum but Meta.
How hard can it be to publish the release notes when you ask us to test.

Very true ! it would be interesting to learn his definition of soon as the last time he said it, it took over a week for it to show up ! seems to have a tendency to jump the gun a bit ? lol

I hope the problem with graphical artifacts or white sparkles or pixel glitches has been fixed🙏

I think it will be much more useful to get actual feedback from those that actually get the v55ptc update.

Just got the update!  So far so very good.  Only played a couple of games so far, Real VR Fishing and Forevr Pool but can notice an increase in framerates and more clarity.

A couple users on the Virtual Desktop Discord channel have said that v55 solves both the white sparkles bug (introduced in v53) and network lag spikes when moving your head bug (introduced in v54) for them, which were the two biggest issues affecting PCVR streaming.

I also noticed improvement in the head bug as well.
