PTC v55 Release Megathread

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v55 is starting to roll out for Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 soon. Thanks everyone for all your feedback on our previous builds, we several bugs were identified in the last PTC and the solutions for some have shipped, while others are on the way!

Let's use this thread for collecting feedback on v55. Share your impressions and let us know if you see any issues. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting here if you notice anything going wrong.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

"So after a factory reset on the firmware 55.0.0.130.713. The problem with graphical artifacts or white sparkles or pixel glitches is still there."

I'm pretty sure they said they are still working on this.

I can't tell if it's the final and stable version that was announced on 6/21/2023 or another PTC update because no info was provided by Meta. I can only assume it's PTC based on what RyanalitΓ   wrote on Monday :" There's a release planned this week for PTC which will include a new build of v55. Assuming everything goes as planned, you should see it on Wednesday if you're on PTC".

Reporting-wise, nothing has changed from the previous v55 version.
My device just keeps working as it should.
Room setup and physical object mapping still isn't as accurate as in previous firmwares.

I only have to point out that as soon as I received the Airlink and VD update they had stuttering problems, frame losses (the same problems as v54 to be clear).
I didn't want to do the easy thing and blame the firmware. So I started by restarting the device several times, restarting the pc, until I noticed that the batteries of my controllers were at 30%; I replaced them and everything is back to perfection, VD and Airlink fully functional, I played fluidly as luckily I've been doing since I received the first v55 ptc. I advise those who still suffer from network spikes, artifacts and stuttering to also try monitoring the state of charge of the controls and see if the problems disappear / or decrease significantly (as happened to me) with the controllers properly charged.
At this point I recommend to do these checks also to those who are still on v54 to understand if somehow the charge level of the controllers is one of the causes of the pcvr connection problems.

The sparkles are better on the new v55 PTC.  For the most part they are not showing up nearly as much and when they do, I found that putting the headset to sleep for a second or two and waking it back up after loading into a PCVR app like ALXR makes them go away almost, and I mean very close to compleately.  What i did notice is doing this seems to stop the lag spikes even if I get some edge sparkle.  Now the new ALXR server actually made these disapear except right after loading, and again, and lack of smoothness can be offset by doing a sleep wake cycle after loading in.  Try it with other software and see if this helps.

For me, nothing chanched, i have no problems without ASW / SSW, but for MSFS i need it.

Mobile ASW in Oculus still broken, also SSW with VD....strange drops = unplayable.

Maybe Meta fired the wrong people, managers still there, but nobody with knowhow, maybe i buy no Quest3 and try another producer, because meta updates are never improve PCVR.

Stugabaranda yes, obviously I use PTC v55, this announcement is about PTC v55.

Factory reset and now it works. But such a pain, now I have to reconfigure a lot of things.

Honestly: if Meta is considering to sell headset for working purpose (I have a Quest Pro), they have to review the process. The only option cannot be a factory reset.
