Updates to Your Meta Quest Experience in 2026

Earlier this year, we shared an update on our renewed focus for VR and Horizon. We are separating the two platforms so each can grow with greater focus, and the Horizon Worlds platform will become a mobile-only experience. This separation will extend across our ecosystem, including our mobile app. To support this vision, we are making the following changes to streamline your Quest experience throughout 2026.

  • Meta Horizon Worlds: By March 31, 2026, Horizon Worlds and Events will no longer appear in the Store on Quest. Also, Horizon Central, Events Arena, Kaiju, and Bobber Bay worlds will no longer be available in VR. You can still jump into your other favorite worlds in VR until June 15, 2026, after which the Horizon Worlds app will be removed from Quest, and Worlds will no longer be available in VR. After June 15, you can jump into all your favorite mobile-optimized worlds on the Meta Horizon mobile app.
  • Meta Horizon Hyperscape Capture (Beta): By March 24, 2026, viewing Hyperscape captures is moving out of Horizon Worlds. Your existing captures will remain viewable within the Hyperscape Capture (Beta) app and the companion Preview app, which are available in your Quest app library. You can continue capturing new Hyperscapes, but sharing, inviting, and co-experiencing Hyperscapes with others will no longer be supported.
  • Meta Horizon Plus (MH+) Perks: By March 31, 2026, Horizon-specific perks — including Meta Credits, Digital Clothing, Avatars and In-World Purchases — will be removed from the subscription. Your core MH+ gaming benefits and monthly games will not be affected.

We continue to invest in making your Quest experience better — recent updates have brought new features like Surface Keyboard and Touchpad, customizable app and window positioning, and we're continuing to roll out Navigator, our modernized interface, to more users.

Postings are confusing to me.   The initial announcement had close dates published.   Then there is a tag that says the CTO (Boz) has changed his mind, but the original dates are still out there.  Many of those dates have come and gone.   The community needs to know what Meta is going to do with Worlds, with Hyperscape, etc.

Meta itself never updated the original announcement.

If you go through this horrible long thread, you'll find links and videos to the statement Boz made.

Existing worlds remains in vr........ how long? Nobody knows🤷‍♀️

Weekly updates that hurt us all. It’s like they never used the darn platform internally.

Anger isn’t the word for it.

In trying to make your interface compatible with all devices, you've managed the feat of making it mediocre on your own hardware. This is a betrayal of those who invested in your VR ecosystem hoping for a specific and optimized experience, not a cheap mobile port.

Which other company would want to take Meta's place and play the beneficial role of listening to users?

You're losing a huge number of users who were initially very satisfied with the VR headset.

Welp, not that it matters- but, I'm gonna comment on MetaHorizons being a seperate app then Worlds and a lil issue that they should fix: The big X in the Store as you're in the Horizons landing venue whatever it's called. You go all the way to the top and see the other items to the left and right sides of the center space and one just has a big X on it- like the plug in isn't working

kf0916 Sorry, it's not my fault if you feel like you are missing something. I was answering a specific question to another person who is multilingual. You don't need to feel left out. Not everyone has the same opportunities.

I played since the OG Occulus Rift CV1.    I am disappointed in the direction it has gone. It's so sad people look at these things as money, instead of memories. I won't be buying quest 4 or any more meta products unless things change.

FrostyBud777  Do you have something you need help with for your headset or do you just want to complain? This forum is dedicated to helping with specific problems. I'm sure you can find a complaint forum somewhere. It might be sad for you but in the real world it's all about making money. It's how companies survive and grow. I think you can still get one of those Google cardboard devices, you might be even able to make one yourself for a few dollars.

I am providing feedback for the shut down of horizon central, the removal of the rift home a while ago and is just an ugly blank space with grid lines, and I hope these things are changed or all the things that made it great is gone.
