The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Horizon OS v2.5 has started to roll out.

Release Notes:  https://www.meta.com/help/quest/172903867975450/

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating:

1) For issues: Go to our Quest Forums and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v2.5" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for PTC issues.

2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

I thought the v2.5 update of the 18th of June fixed the 6ghz WiFi problem I reported above. Now it seems 5ghz and 6ghz are the same for me when first connected they work for the first app I run and as long as the headset does not put its self in sleep mode any app I run after. After sleep mode I need to open wifi quick settings and let the Q3 do a scan and connect to a new network then everything works until the headset goes into sleep mode again.

There is a new toggle on v2.5.1034 under the Link section (or atleast one i have never seen before):

USB connection for apps - Lets all apps connect over USB for things like game streaming and network access.

Does this mean developers will have full access to the usb port to implement their own version of wired horizon link? Neither Steam link, VD nor ALVR work with it as of right now.

Interesting! A very good question for the developers! β“πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

After using the Quest 3 for work for the first time in a month, I feel extremely lethargic.

Based on the symptoms, I suspect the passthrough frame rate or latency has worsened.

Tracking has also become unstable, frequently causing windows to shake.

Not only has my work efficiency dropped, but I also feel more prone to motion sickness.

As someone who relies heavily on remote desktop functionality, this is a major issue.

Ogaki_Doe  If you rely heavily on your headset my friend, why are you on the PTC program? It will have a lot of bugs over time and your headset is being used to test untested software.

You will likely have to wait until this is fixed but make sure you report this problem through the bug reporting tool on the headset itself, so the developers are aware.

As this headset is important for your work, may I suggest that you leave the PTC program and in future wait for official update releases that are stable.

I would check my IPD setting as when I put it on charge sometimes I knock the IPD wheel so I got into the habit of checking it every so often. Hope this helps.

View your photos and videos in 3D

Photos and videos in Gallery now open in 3D automatically, adding lifelike depth to your media. You can switch back to 2D view at any time. You can also upload photos to your headset from the Horizon app to view in 3D.

Β Would you consider making this available in an app that would convert content streamed from a PC? I would gladly pay for that.

I just updated to v2.5 today, and I'm seeing drop shadows on UI panels and windows, but only in Mixed Reality and in the Loft. I don't know if this is intentional, if you're testing a new feature, or if it's a bug, but they look really bad in some situations. It can be seend in Mixed Reality and inside the Loft.

I'll post a gif to show the effect. You can see the shadow under the panel and to the right of the chair.

Quest 2 just received PTC v2.6 Build 5222268.1570.150. Encrypted wifi doesn't accept password anymore, device can only connect to open wifi networks.

I'm facing the same problem: today quest 2 just not connect anymore in my wifi modem network. I tried everything to make work again, but nothing fixes this issue at this moment.

Luloko Read the other comments in the thread. There are temporary fixes until the bug is fixed. No point in posting the same complaint when there is a solution in the previous comments.

I have v2.5 from july the 3rd. Have not seen any updates since to v2.5 or even v2.6. Each time I connect to 5ghz or 6ghz the wireless will drop out within about an hour. It doesn't matter what band I use, this did not happen on v2.4

NicoEng  Haven't experienced that., just a, small room position bug on start up.. Some people were reporting WiFi issues on V2.6. Definitely report this as a bug! Something not right there.

v2.6 has been in PTC for about a week... Will there be a dedicated v2.6 thread to discuss any bugs we find there?

philmanagexr I think this is the thread you should post on. If you read through the comments you'll see people posting their experiences here. For all previous PTC releases, the announcement is where people talk about the bugs. So feel free to post here and we will see it! Thanks for asking! We look forward to your input. πŸ‘πŸ‘ Nobody has posted a v2.6 announcement as yet, so continue here maybe.. Meta are very slow about posting new PTC releases here since they kind of left the forum to a major extent.

I really hope I get an update to the wifi issues I am having soon as it seems to be getting worse. I make sure I am connected before I start a game, if I adjust the headset a little and the display shows passthrough the wifi connection is lost and the game fails or in exteam cases I am thrown out of the game. Like I said before v2.4 worked fone for me but not v2.5 of the 3rd of July. I have not seen any sign of v2.6 yet as I want to see if the issue is fixed. Its getting to the point where if I had the money I would get a different headset. I may have to dust off my Quest 1 and play PCVR until Meta get their act together.

    Hi  NicoEng πŸ™‚

Have you ever considered this is not a software issue but a hardware issue? Maybe the WIFI antenna in the Quest is defective or the connection to the motherboard has come lose.

This would explain why movements from the headset causes losing the WIFI connection.

I don't say it is like that, but that this error came up simultanly with the update could simply be coincidence.

I don't have any WIFI connection issues on v2.5 πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Choleni Snap! I was thinking that too. We might be both right, or both wrong!, πŸ˜‚

I did consider hardware but the quest 3 is quite new and strangely enough all these issues started happening when I first got v2.5. I know my quest 3 has never been dropped and sits on the sofa next to me when charging. I live alone so no one else has access to my quest. So I am pretty sure its the PTC software which is supposed to be a full release of v2.5 now but I have not seen an update since the 3rd of July.

I'm pretty sure, if you got an update on 3rd of July, you are no longer on PTC but on  the build version of v2.5

If you are on PTC you should get v2.6 soon, actually I wonder why you haven't received it yet.πŸ€”

Hopefully, this will solve your problem,

If not, I would contact Meta.....
