Meta Ray-Ban Display: How to Buy & Why

It’s been over 48 hours since Meta Ray-Ban Display hit shelves in the US, and the demand for this product is off the charts.

Nearly every store we’ve stocked has sold out, and demos are almost fully booked out through November. We’re excited by the response thus far. And to ensure people have the best experience, we’re making demo appointments a requirement* for purchase in as many retail locations as possible.

You might ask, “Why’s that? I just want to buy it online or go to one of your fine retailers and make a purchase.” We love to hear it. But, between the display glasses and the Meta Neural Band, we’re introducing two pieces of tech that almost nobody has ever experienced before. And for them to work properly, they need to be properly fitted to you, so we’re starting with in-person appointments, along with a quick demo to make sure people fully get how the product works.

If you haven’t been able to buy or book a demo yet, hang tight. Restocks are coming, and if stores sell out, they can get you waitlisted or place a backorder. This month, we’ll double the number of locations to boost capacity. We’re also evaluating online ordering as an option down the line.

We know you have more questions, so we’ve answered some of the top ones we’ve seen across the internet below. Check out the Meta Ray-Ban Display page for an extended FAQ that we’ll update over time.

We’ve worked on a lot of first-gen products in Reality Labs, and it’s always the passion of early adopters that fuels future growth and improvements. We’re grateful to everyone who’s interested in trying out Meta Ray-Ban Display, either now or in the future.

Q&A

*First, a word on “demo requirement” ... While we’ve asked our retail partners to adhere to appointments only, this will take some time to implement. Some people may wind up purchasing a product without a demo, but this should be the exception that proves the rule.

Fitting & Demo Requirements

Is an in-person demo and fitting appointment required for purchase? Why?
Yes. An in-person fitting and demo is required before purchase. That way, you’ve tested the product, made sure you’re comfortable using a monocular display, and confirmed you’ve got the right size and fit.

Meta Neural Band fitting is critical to ensure that the sensors are placed correctly and can pick up the muscle signals in your wrist. During your demo, our associates will help size you properly and show you the correct placement and tightness required for optimal use. It comes in three sizes, and you should find the one that’s just right.

Do I need to schedule a demo online in advance before coming into the store or can I just walk in?
Please book a demo in advance to make sure someone can help you get fitted and walk you through a demo. Visit our Demo Scheduler to find a nearby demo or to be notified once they become available.

While some stores may be able to accommodate walk-ins if there’s an open demo slot or a same-day cancellation, there could be long wait times, and there’s no guarantee they’ll be able to fit you in.

Availability & Purchase

If I have a scheduled appointment, am I guaranteed a unit to purchase?
Our goal is to have everyone’s exact size and color combo in stock. However, due to demand, there’s a chance your preferred SKU may not be in stock at the time of your appointment. If the store is sold out of your preferred color and size, you’ll be added to a waitlist and notified as soon as it’s available. For some retailers, you can place a backorder purchase and Meta Ray-Ban Display will be shipped to your home directly. There’s no need to complete another demo. And don’t worry — for those who have completed a demo, you’ll be prioritized when we’re back in stock.

I heard people were able to go into stores without an appointment and purchase Meta Ray-Ban Display and that it was first-come, first-served. Can I just walk in and buy?
When we first started selling on September 30, some stores allowed for walk-in purchases without a demo. But for these products to work properly, they need to fit just right. So our policy is that demos are required before purchasing Meta Ray-Ban Display, and that is now being followed across retailers. We recommend scheduling an appointment in advance, so the store can complete your demo and fitting.

Will online purchase eventually become available?
Yes, we hope to add online buying as an option down the line. Right now, we’re focused on the in-store experience to make sure everyone gets the right fit and the best introduction to the display glasses and Meta Neural Band before buying.

Can I buy more than one Meta Ray-Ban Display when I complete my demo?
No. There’s a limit of one (1) Meta Ray-Ban Display per purchase to ensure the device is properly sized and fitted for the person completing the demo.

Why is the availability of Meta Ray-Ban Display so limited?
Availability is limited because we’re seeing tremendous demand for the product, and that’s currently outpacing retail store availability. We’re thrilled by the interest and working hard to make more demos and products available as quickly as possible.

Stores & Booking Availability

How do I find which stores near me offer demos and sell the product?
Visit our Demo Scheduler to find stores near you that are offering demos or to get notified once additional locations open up.

Will all Best Buy, Ray-Ban, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, and Verizon stores offer Meta Ray-Ban Display?

Prescription Glasses (Rx)

Are Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses available in prescription (Rx)?
Yes. Meta Ray-Ban Display is available with prescription for an additional $200 USD ($999 USD total for the frame + prescription lenses).

Meta Ray-Ban Display supports near-sightedness (myopia), far-sightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism up to a total power of -4.00 to +4.00D (defined as SPH+CYL) and up to 4D of CYL. Prescription lenses are only available in single-vision, polycarbonate, Ray-Ban authentic lenses, with premium anti-reflective coating in clear to grey Transitions® lenses.

I wear prescription glasses and want to demo Meta Ray-Ban Display. How do I schedule an appointment and what do I need to bring with me?
Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses are available to demo with prescription inserts in the US at select Meta Lab, Ray-Ban, LensCrafters, and Best Buy stores. To book a demo, please visit our Demo Scheduler. Bring your glasses prescription information to be fitted with Rx inserts during the demo or wear contact lenses to the appointment.

Where can I order Meta Ray-Ban Display with a prescription?
Meta Ray-Ban Display with prescription is available for purchase in the US at select Meta Labs, Ray-Ban, LensCrafters, and Best Buy stores. To get started, please visit our Demo Scheduler to book a demo. For Best Buy US customers, after completing your demo, speak with your in-store Meta Sales Specialist for instructions on how to order Meta Ray-Ban Display with prescription and have your prescription available to either upload or enter manually.

Can I add prescription (Rx) after receiving the Meta Ray-Ban Display device?
Prescription (Rx) can only be added to Meta Ray-Ban Display at the point of purchase. Because prescription (Rx) lenses in Meta Ray-Ban Display are specifically crafted and integrated into the in-lens display, lenses cannot be swapped for Rx after purchase (Rx inserts are only used during in-store demos to help you experience the device).

What’s the expected delivery time for prescription (Rx) Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses orders?
Prescription orders typically take five to eight weeks to deliver because prescription lenses in Meta Ray-Ban Display are individually crafted and integrated into the in-lens display.

Are you going to put a display in the left lens for all of us left eye dominant people. Some of us have not so great right eye vision that prescription will not help so just curious if you ever come out with a AI meta smart glasses display for the left lens in the left eye?

Meta Ray-Ban Display: Please Offer a Left-Eye Version

I’m very interested in purchasing the Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, but there’s one issue preventing me from doing so: the display is available only in the right lens.

I’d like Meta to consider offering a version with the display in the left lens.

This isn’t simply a matter of preference. For people who have better vision in their left eye, are left-eye dominant, or have impaired vision in their right eye, the current design may make the product difficult or impossible to use.

I believe Meta is overlooking a potential market, particularly when accessibility is considered.

I’d be interested to know how many other prospective customers would purchase these glasses if a left-eye version were available.

Meta, is this something your product development team is considering? I’d appreciate a response, and I’d encourage others interested in this option to comment
