Quest 2 Oculus button not bringing up the menu

Apologies in advance if this has been answered elsewhere, I haven't managed to find a solution anywhere. On my quest 2, for a few months now, I haven't been able to bring up the oculus menu in a game with the oculus button to quit or capture content. I used to be able to tap the button and the menu would come up, but it does nothing now. I can still long press to reset my view, so the button technically works, but it just doesn't bring up the menu. To quit games I either have to restart my headset or use an in-game menu if it has one. Again, sorry if this is a dumb question, hoping I'm just being stupid and not doing something right. Any advice is appreciated.

    the O button, when pressed quickly seems to do what i need. thank you!

      Hey there, Helen7944. We see you're having some trouble using your menu button. Since you've already restarted your device with no improvement then we would like to advise you attempt a factory reset.

       

      To perform a factory reset using the headset:

      1. Turn off your headset.
      2. Hold the power and volume (-) buttons on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
      3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
      4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

       

      Please note a factory reset will remove all data from your device, if you have Cloud Backups turned on all your games save files will not be lost as long as you are signed into your account properly.

        Hi, I’m having the same problem. I just factory reset my headset and it is still not working.

        im having the same problem, ive tried everything but i cant use my meta menu in games, it started today and i cant fix it,i tried everything u suggested but it still wont work, i can turn my menu off and on in my home but just not in games, help please

  • I am having the same problem and I have tried everything I’ve restarted it I’ve powered it off and on again I have done everything that I can think of but nothing is working

      Hi I had that same issue thinking the button was broken. Turns out this button was enabled which is strange since I don't mess with the settings. Once I disables it it started working

       Hi I had that same issue thinking the button was broken. Turns out this setting of the button was enabled which is strange since I don't mess with the settings. Once I disables it it started working. This was my solution 

  • This mainly happens to me in games that are more demanding on the device so that may be a reason why this happens. When I click the menu button at first it doesn’t pop up but a few minutes later it will but it won’t let me interact with it so the only real solution is to restart the device.

  • i figured out how to fix it all i had to do was switch passthrough off

  • I have factory reset my headset and the menu still won’t pop up and I’m stuck on the pairing screen

      Hi there bingo_052,

       

      We came across your post and would love to assist in getting your controllers working with your headset again.

       

      If you are stuck trying to pair your controllers to your headset try the following:

      1. Power on and put on your headset.
      2. In the headset, either an animation will ask you to remove the pull tabs from your controllers, or a message will tell you that the headset can't locate your controllers.
      3. Put down the headset and wait for five to ten minutes.
      4. Put the headset back on. You should see instructions on how to use gaze functionality in the headset.
      5. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your controllers to your headset.
      6. Once the controllers are paired to the headset, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the rest of the setup process. 

      It may also be a good idea to force your headset to update to the current version of software available to it, incase there are any issues with the installation of any previous updates.

      You can do this by visiting the Software Update Tool, then all you have to do is select your device and follow the on screen instructions.
