Quest Browser and Disney+

Previously, logging into Disney+ from the Quest browser was hassle-free.

As of Monday, it's now not working, in that Disney+ is directing you to download an App, but when you follow the direction, the page can not be found.

Checking to see which platforms are supported the Quest, or Quest Browser, is not on the list.

Any suggestions as to where to go next?

  • I believe I have found the solution. Clearing cache from within the browser does not work. Go to the Oculus SETTINGS and navigate to STORAGE under the GENERAL category. Find the browser (look for the drop-down menu that says APPLICATIONS and select SYSTEM APPS) and click on the CLEAR DATA option. I now have D+ back in my browser! Hope this works for you.

That's not good. OK, I don't have Disney + but my friend has. I just asked her to try hers and she was able to connect to her through the browser. Just now she did it. Maybe it was a temporary issue? Make sure that you're on the official Disney site and not some fake one trying to get you to download some fake app. There is news that Disney+ will be coming to the Meta headset directly through the TV app there. It's not available where I am yet, but maybe check your TV app to see if it's there. But before all that restart your browser and try again. See if you can close the dialogue box telling you to download an app and see if you can get in. Good luck. Let's know how you get on. 🤞🤞

Just to add, HBO MAX, Prime and Netflix all open on the Quest browser. It's just a standard browser so I can't think why Disney +wouldn't be available, but we are in Türkiye, so unless there is some geographical restriction where you are?

  • I am having the same issue. This seems to have happened after Quest asked me to add the Disney+ page to my apps since I was watching it so often. Now it continually directs me to download an app that is not available. I have deleted all the browser cache I can find, which has allowed me to relog into my Disney+ account, but then directs me to the page that requires me to download the app. Wondering if I will have to restore my Oculus to factory conditions to resolve the issue. I have contacted Disney+ who were quite helpful in determining that it is an Oculus issue, and not one of their own. It would be great to hear from Meta about where to modify the settings to remove the requirement to download a non-existent app that they suggested I install in the first place, thus creating this issue. HELP APPRECIATED.

That definitely sounds like an issue with the browser.  It might be happening locally as in Türkiye it's working normally at the moment, we can still directly access D+ along with the other streamers, but....maybe we're still on an older browser version and the new one will break it. 😂 It's very frustrating.. Hope you get it resolved soon though. 🤞

Tom.Ganner Well done Tom! I Imagine this will help a lot of people!! I just passed this on to my friend, just in case it happens to her. 👍👍👍👍👍

  • Appreciating the kind words. To share the strategy, I found the solution by hoping to avoid doing a factory reset. I searched for the ??  "Uninstall Oculus browser" hoping to reinstall a clean copy. Not possible, but the suggestion was that short of that, clearing the browser data might resolve issues. Reasonable navigation was provided. Imagine my delight to find it worked.
