Strange bug when attempting to join live events in Horizon Worlds

I have a Quest 3 (about 8 weeks old). When I am using Horizon Worlds and try to enter any portal to a live event, instead of teleporting me to the event, the Quest Universal UI appears, showing a window for the Meta Store, specifically showing a page to install Horizon Worlds. But the strangest thing is that this is not the official Horizon Worlds store page - the official page has over 15,000 user ratings (with an average rating of 3.5), but the page that appears only has 16 ratings (with an average rating of 2.3)! Also strange is that it has a "download" button, while on the official store page it has a "start" button (because, of course, Worlds is already installed on my Quest 3 as part of the Universal UI and it cannot be uninstalled or re-installed). Also, when I clicked "Install", it said "Installing" but the progress bar got stuck at nearly 100% and nothing happened.

You can see in the screenshot above, I tried to join the "Hot Ones" live event from Horizon Central, but when I clicked "Join" the store page (seen on the right of the screenshot) opened up. If you look closely, you can see in the bottom-left of that window that that version of the app only has 16 ratings with a score of 2.3, and also that the "Download" button is enabled!

The next screenshot shows the official Worlds app from the Meta Store. You can see that this one has 15K ratings with a score of 3.5, and only a "Start" button, which proves that these two store pages are not the same version of Worlds!

    So finally, a solution. I've just received the official v81.1034 update on my Quest 3. I now have access to both the old and new Horizon Central. After updating, the first time I tried entering the Horizon Central portal from my new home environment, it said I had to wait because HC was still downloading. So after a few minutes I went to the new Horizon Central and found a portal to one of the Red Rocks Live Events. IT WORKED! YAY! Then I went to the old Horizon Central, and then tried a portal to the same live event and IT ALSO WORKED! YAY! I also tested on the Blackpink concert and one of the iHeart Radio live events, and they also worked 😁.

      Hi, due to the recent known problems with the Meta headset software updates (v78.1027, v78.1028 & v78.1030) I will not be risking updating my Quest 3 headset until after the official release of v79, which is supposed to fix the issue of the software version being stuck on 78.1027. My headset is working perfectly. It is only the Horizon Worlds live event portals that are behaving strangely.

    I have exactly this same problem.  I cannot join any Live events in Horizon World.... although as I get near the "portal" to join in a place like Venues, I can dimly hear the concert or event.  Weird. 

    I am also reluctant to tinker with the software update, because my headset works perfectly other than this one issue right now.  If you have another possible solution that does not involve that, please advise.  Otherwise I will also wait until v. 79.

      This is evidence that it is a software bug and not file corruption in our headsets.

        I can attest to this.  I'm the poster above, who also reported this problem.  I actually own two Quest 3 headsets, both are upgraded to v. 79 and one is running the new Navigator, while the other is not. (I am part of the Public Test Channel for one headset, but not the other).   

        Despite these slightly different configurations, on BOTH units, the same problem occurs, that is described above.  So this must be software, not hardware. 

        Meta Support Team:  Please supply instructions for a fix.

    So just as a small update to this, I am able to access the live events on my phone using the MetaHorizon+ app, just not in my headset. Both are on the same wifi. My headset is now on v79.1031 build 5115411.16430.520 (10 Sep 2025) but the issue persists.

      As advised previously in the thread, you'll need to submit a bug report for this so our engineers can properly track it.

       

      • Open the Horizon Worlds app
      • Holding both controllers, press down simultaneously on the A&B buttons on your right controller, and the X&Y buttons on you left controller
      • This will bring up the bug report screen. You can then submit details of the issue, including any error messages that might be coming up.

      You've mentioned previously that you've submitted quite a few bug reports for this, but each one helps us track the issue including where and when it happens, and how long it has been happening for.

        As I previously mentioned, I have submitted over half a dozen such bug reports via the headset in the past two months! Still waiting for this issue to be addressed by the "engineers" aka vibecoders.

    Why has this been going on for WEEKS!? I can't attend any live events, including the Meta Connect event today which makes me incredibly dissapointed with Meta. I have two quest 3 headsets. It is occurring on both of them, on 3 different accounts.  Do you have this bug information linked somewhere, where we can see updates and tracking for the bug/issues? How many users is this impacting? I can't believe this was not resolved before Meta Connect. Meta never provides any information for these kind of issues and just leaves users hanging forever.  I've submitted multiple bug reports.  Please do better.

      It's not been weeks... it's been MONTHS.  Two months.  I was the second person to complain, after the OP, and nothing has been done.  It's appalling.  

      I have two Quest 3 headsets, and one Quest 3S.  I am running v81 on one of them, and v79 on the other two.  

      To the "dedicated engineering team":  Please provide a solution.  Or some indication you are actually working on this.

        I'm having the same exact problem, and it's happening right now during the Meta Connect live stream in worlds, it's not working for me
