Oakley HSTN meta glasses died once, and have died forever it seems.

So just bought a pair of the Oakley meta HSTN less than 2 weeks ago. They were doing fantastic. Then I forgot about them for a couple days and left them laying next to the case, not in it. I picked them up and got the little red led flash on the side of the glasses. So I put them in the case and to my surprise, it flashed green. Ok, pulled them back out and now there is no red light, or any light coming from the glasses. I have tried cleaning both the glasses and the case. I’ve tried hard resetting the case and the glasses. I’ve tried force restarting the glasses as well as simply cycling the power switch. I put the glasses in the case it would turn green. I somehow managed to get the glasses to re-pair to my phone (with no lights indicating anything). And the app showed 100% on both the glasses and the case? HOW?! They were literally just dead. So, ai supports says “ahh it’s just a charging issue”. Ya think so do ya, Jim Dandy? Well which one of the steps that I’ve literally already done do you want me to do again?! Change the earpiece orientation? Done that too. These things were great until they died….ONCE! I mean hell, why not just use some triple A’s in them since the rechargeable battery doesn’t seem to be rechargeable? So I just turned the power switch off and put them back in the case….. With the power switch turned off, the case shows the orange charging light…. And has shown it for 2 hours now. Still, no lights, no life. I expected more from brands like Oakley and Meta. Tell me if I’m missing something. I’m gonna leave them on charge overnight and maybe a hole in the sky will open up…

  • Ive been having issues with my first pair. They were having connection issues, then eventually they would turn off as soon as I put them on and turn back on when I would take them off. I couldn't pair them to my phone again. A couple of days later they just decided to not even turn on anymore. That was my warranty replacement after the first set broke 30 mins wearing them frame cracked.  I was having issues doing a warranty claim since I already had done one the first day I bought them. After emailing oakley for a couple of days, they finally let me get another pair.. but guess what... the case is not charging and there is a picture 9n my phone now of one of the employees.. idk what to do anymore...

      Here lies

The Oakley Meta HSTN Smart Glasses

      (2024–2024)

Gone far too soon, and in ways no engineer could have predicted.

A Eulogy for the Fallen Frames

Dearly beloved tech enthusiasts, warranty warriors, and those who have tried turning it off and on again until their thumbs went numb -

We gather today to honor the short, chaotic, and deeply confusing lives of these brave little spectacles. They arrived in their boxes full of promise: ready to play music, take calls, and make us look like futuristic athletes who also enjoy podcasts.

      But fate had other plans.

For the first few days, they shone - literally.

Green lights, red lights, Bluetooth pairing, the whole "I'm a functioning product" experience. They sat proudly on noses, whispered notifications into ears, and basked in the glow of their charging case.

      Then came the darkness.

      A single red blink.

      A mysterious green flash.

A battery percentage that defied physics, logic, and possibly the laws of the universe.

      They rebooted.

      They un‑rebooted.

They paired to phones while simultaneously being dead.

They charged while turned off, or refused to charge while turned on.

They entered a spiritual state known only as Schrödinger's Sunglasses.

Despite heroic efforts - cleaning contacts, flipping earpieces, pleading with support agents named Jim Dandy - the glasses slipped quietly into the eternal void of "no LED activity."

Their case, too, began showing signs of existential crisis.

      Orange lights.

      No lights.

And, in one particularly haunting twist, a random photo of an Oakley employee appearing on a user's phone like a ghostly farewell.

Let us remember them not for their glitches, but for their brief moments of glory.

      For the songs they played.

      For the notifications they whispered.

For the 30 minutes before the frame cracked.

For the two weeks before the battery achieved enlightenment and transcended earthly charging.

      They are survived by:

      • Several frustrated owners
      • A stack of warranty emails
      • And one very confused charging case

May their replacements live longer, shine brighter, and not spontaneously upload photos of retail staff.
