Cannot open MacOS OVRPlugin in a new VR supported Unity project

Hi guys,

I started a new Unity 2017.2.0f3 project, enabled VR in XR settings, downloaded and imported (from the Asset Store) Oculus Integration (which was automatically updated to 1.18.1) but get the following two errors:

Couldn't open Assets/OVR/Plugins/1.18.1/OSXUniversal/OVRPlugin.bundle/Contents/MacOS/OVRPlugin, error: dlopen(Assets/OVR/Plugins/1.18.1/OSXUniversal/OVRPlugin.bundle/Contents/MacOS/OVRPlugin, 2): Library not loaded: @rpath/LibOVRRT_0.framework/Versions/5/LibOVRRT_0
Referenced from: /Users/OculusUnityProject/Assets/OVR/Plugins/1.18.1/OSXUniversal/OVRPlugin.bundle/Contents/MacOS/OVRPlugin
Reason: image not found

and

Oculus Plugin could not be loaded.

There are a couple of posts in the Unity forum with similar issues, but still unanswered... Does anyone know what the problem might be?

    Thanks for your reply.
I am a bit confused though...

The same problem existed before I imported any Oculus Integration package. When you download the latest stable Unity 2017.2, the VR mode is activated via the "Virtual Reality Supported" option, so basically that should be it without the need for any integration stuff. Am I wrong?

When you say "downgrade" to 1.15 Oculus Integration, do you mean in the same Unity 2017.2 project, the VR option should not be checked (i.e. a regular Unity project) with 1.15 Oculus Integration imported, or do you mean the VR option should be checked as well as the 1.15 Oculus Integration imported in the Unity project?

I tried with the VR option checked and 1.15 integration package imported, and there are 4 errors pointing to the "OVRLint.cs" and I also tried with the VR option unchecked, the same story...

thanks for your quick reply. I'll look for other means to get this working.
  • I just experienced this issue on Unity 2018.2.11 and installing the runtime did not fix it! I'm trying to install another version of Unity and see if it fixes it. Something I noticed is that I have OculusUtilities installed and it has a newer version of plugin. But even when I tell it to use that newer version, it seems like Unity keeps using older bundled (1.27_ version.
