Question

Oculus TrayTool - SuperSampling profiles, HMD disconnect fixes (hopefully)

Oculus Tray Tool
current version: 0.87.3

What is it?
In short; It’s a free application that helps you get the most out of your Rift. It is developed by me, ApollyonVR, with the support of the community for beta testing. Please note that this application is not an official piece software from Oculus, I am not affiliated with Oculus in any way. Any issues you
have with this application should be reported to me and not Oculus support. You can reach me here on the forums or by contacting me at *REDACTED*

Oculus Tray Tool (OTT) has many features that will hopefully help you get the very best VR experience. It has options that help you automatically switch audio and microphone to the Rift and back, handle the Oculus runtime service, voice commands, batch import Steam games (added to OTT by the awesome headkaze over at http://headsoft.com.au), replace icons for your games and more.

It’s primary feature however, is the ability to create “Profiles” for you VR Games and apps.
Within these Profiles, you set how Asyncronous SpaceWarp (ASW) should act, increase the perceived resolution by using Supersampling and increase the CPU Priority of a given app to get the most juice out of your system for that specific application.
Once a Profile has been created for a game or app, OTT will detect when it is started and apply the
profile for it, without the need for taking your headset of.

If you want to have a peek at all the things OTT can do for you before installing the application, check the User Guide pdf. The latest version of this application will always be right below this intro, but the app also checks for available updates on startup.

Enjoy, have fun and please report any issues, suggestion or feature requests to me using the above mentioned methods. Oh, and feel free to buy me a coffee by using the PayPal button in-app. 🙂

The very nice people over at Guru3d.com have been kind enough to host some mirrors for the setups, so make sure to pay them a visit!

UPDATE 03/08

Hi all!
It's been a while since i released a new version, but now the time has come! 😃
I'm looking for ppl who want to test the new version before public release.
There are primarily changes for the Quest but anyone is welcome to test it.
Just drop an email to *REDACTED* and i'll get you a download link
and some instructions. Also include what type of headset (Rift or Quest)
that you are using.

Also, i now have a proper domain for the website, so swing by www.ApollyonVR.com
and check out the new Forum! If you have questions, comments or suggestions

that is the place to post them. 😃

Below are the release notes for the new version. Please note that this is a Beta version

for testing the new features. If you just want to use a stable version of OTT then head

over to www.apollyonvr.com and simply download the latest version.

Version 0.87.7
* Oculus Dash will now use the same CPU Priority as what you set for OVR Server.
* Added a "Comments" option to Profiles.
* Implemented Paolod29's code for a permanent AirLink (https://github.com/pd29/oculus-airlink-enabler).
* Added more choices to the Quest Link settings for "Bitrate" and "Encode Resolution".
* Added option for "Force Mipmap generation on all layers" on the Game Settings tab.
* Added option for "Offset Mipmap bias on all layers" on the Game Settings tab.
* Added option for "Force Mipmap generation on all layers" to Profiles.
* Added option for "Offset Mipmap bias on all layers" to Profiles.
* Added option for "Encode Dynamic Bitrate" on the Quest Link tab.
* Added option for "Dynamic Bitrate Max" on the Quest Link tab.
* Added "FOV Multiplier" to Profiles. Setting this to a value lower than 1, for example 0.8,
will increase FPS due to less pixels being drawn at the expense of lower FOV.
* When creating a brand new Profile, the current settings from the Game Settings tab will be used.
This will make it even easier to create a new Profile! Simply experiment with different settings
on the Game Settings tab, and when you have found the perfect combo for a given game those
settings are copied over when you click "Create new Profile".

* Added option to Disable profiles.

* Redesigned the Profiles window a bit.
* Fixed some bugs.

Cheers!

@Major.Snacko Not sure why that is happening to you, but you can try and renamed the C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\ApollyonVR folder and see how things work. This will reset a lot of the settings to default.

@BaZhAnG  This can happen if you have Oculus software and games installed in different locations. Edit the config.xml file in the OTT installation path using any texteditor, and find the <LibraryPath> parameter. Update this and set it to the path that contains the Oculus Manifest folder. This folder should be located under the <oculus install path>\Oculus\Software folder (there is a Manifests folder directly under ..\Oculus, ignore this, it is the one under Software we want), and it should contain .json files for all your games. Something like the below, if E:\Oculus\Software contains a folder called Manifests which contains all the .json files.

  <LibraryPath>E:\Oculus\Software</LibraryPath>

Will add a gui option to set this in the next update.

Cheers!

Win 10 64bit OS
Gtx 1080 newest drivers.
Just got my rift a few days ago so newest oculus app and software.

Been running fine for past few days untill I just downloaded and played that Farlands aliens game. I didnt care for it so exited and deleted it but noticed my monitor was flickering. Its an LG 2160 ultrawide. I checked resolution and refresh rate in nvidia control panel. Reports 2160x1080 at 60hz which is correct for this monitor.
Tried different hdmi cables but same flicker.
I hook my computer to my tv and my tv reports 2160x1080 at 90hz.

For some reason 90hz is being pushed from my pc to my monitor even though its only reporting that its pushing 60hz.

I know the rift runs 90hz so for whatever reason my monitor is being overdrivin and scared its going to get damaged and cant figure out why or how to stop it?

Do i need to remove oculus software?

Could it have something to do with oculus tray tool?

I did 2 reboots and still had the flicker.
Thats when I put the pc on my tv and seen it was pushing 90Hz.

Key shortcut wouldnt shut windows down for some reason so had to do a hard shutdown. Now its working fine no flicker.

My gtx 1080 had one hdmi port so gave it to the rift and using a hdmi to DP adapter for my monitor.
Ive noticed a 10 sec lag when monitor comes out of sleep with this adapter and not sure why that is.

I ordered a hdmi to DP gatorcable in hopes that that will fix the lag.

I checked the monitor on ps3 and it was fine so that made me check the pc on tv and noticed the 90Hz.

After the hard restart its been fine but remember a few days ago my monitor went to some funky low res after exiting oculus app.
Just not sure where the issue lies.... nvidia driver, oculus, oculus tray tool etc.

Just built this rig this year and have had zero problems untill going vr.

I was able to reproduce the problem several more times but sadly cant revert my monitor to go back to 60Hz again.
My nephew came to my house and so I wanted to show him the VR.
I loaded up the "Oculus Dreamdeck" demo and after it was done when he took the rift off and the rift sensed it wasnt being worn it went to sleep. As soon as it went to sleep my monitor turned dark blue with a different color blue line at the top. If I put the rift on my head to wake it up the monitor would then display correctly, as soon as i took the rift off and it went to sleep it would kick my monitor into a blank blue screen again.
I had to reset computer to get my monitor to work but again have my monitor flickering as its forced into 90Hz even though nvidia control panel reports it as 60Hz.
I againt plugged in the hdmi cord from my tv into my video card and again its pushing out 90Hz as reported by my tv.

So. For some reason, oculus software is pushing the 90Hz onto my monitor when the rift goes into sleep mode.
I dont know if its the oculus software itself, the demo that triggered it, or something else like oculus tray tool thats causing the issue.

@deezdrama OTT does not do anything with refresh rates or similar. What it does do is handle USB settings like selective suspend, and also handled power plan settings. When it talks to the oculus software, it does so using the oculus debug tool, which in turn only talks to the oculus service. If you think it has something to do with the oculus software then try stopping/disabling the Oculus service, and see if the monitor stays at 60hz.
