Question

V81 quest 2 ram issue.

when im playing. my game just crashes and i get this notification. "Not enough memory to run *game / app name*". It started when i updated to PTC v81. Even on v81 stable it still happens.. Ive tried killing useless services and app that run in the backround. Restarted my quest 2 many times. Factory reseted it over 10 times this month. Nothing helped, so it has to be an issue with V81 and V81 PTC. And also when i boot and am doing nothing. Even useless services and apps in the backround killed. Its using more than 3gb of ram.

Hi Anna_fr,

We understand this can be frustrating when you want to play your favorite games, could we please ask that you submit a bug report so that our engineers can take a closer look at this for you?

Hello my name is Darren, I used to do troubling shooting of hardware equipment for a Point of Sale Company for over 22 years for a living, have an A+ certification many years ago.   Product = Quest2 128GB bought in 7/29/2022,  Issue = memory error - "Not enough memory to run xxx" , Occurrence Random = About 10-55min. Versionv81.xx  For about 2 weeks I also have the issue of "Not enough memory to run xxx", for instance running "Dungeons of Eternity". it happens about 10min-55min. in the game but most all the time when everyone is linked to go back to the starting area in the "D. O. E. " game,  after the fight,  where everyone makes it back, except me, sometimes, more often while someone is talking the APP crashes and I recover back to the Meta Home screen.  I've did some research on this using Gemini, it said that the heatsink fan may not be working so bought tools to take it apart checking to see if the fan was clogged or not turning , it was still working, no clogs, so not that as the issue.  I've since backed up my apps on the cloud. and 2 different times Reset the Quest2 to Default then only loaded the game "Dungeons of Eternity" & VRChat App. All other Apps are self installing by Meta including Facebook, Instagram, and a few other Meta apps.  It sounds like only Quest2's have this issue with crashing I was going to purchase a Quest3, until I found another person crashing in the middle of playing this game. My friend said "it's happening more now" and not just Quest2' s but also on Quest 3's as well so it seems IMO that this is a memory leak issue that needs to be corrected with ver. 81.xx since I never had these issues on previous Quest updates.     Thanks for reading this.

The D.O.E.  game has a new update called Storm Grave release Oct 25th Build 20537607, it has new patches included and seems to be more stable now. It seems ( to me) that when people now leave to return after a fight everyone's voice is cut and this seems to make it more stable to get back w/o any issues now, Apparently the update fixed this issue when returning back so far I have always returned back to the starting area in Dungeons of Eternity now with the new update.  Oh yeah this is on my Quest2 which is still working well hard to believe after 3 years and 3 months.
