Youth gorilla tag - can’t talk/hear others

My 10 year old can no longer play with others in gorilla tag since the latest update. He only hears monkey sounds, cannot talk or hear others. We have re-set, updated the game. He got a message (3/31/24) when powering on that parental restrictions have been updated by meta but I cannot find anything online supporting that or telling me what has changed.

Has something changed that no longer allows under 13 to play? Is there a way to bypass?

Hi Khkroeger ðŸ™‚

Can my Child communicate with other players?
Children are automatically restricted from communicating with or otherwise making their personal information publicly available to other players. When your Child tries to communicate with other players using voice chat, only monkey noises will be heard by other players. No voice data of your Child is transmitted.

You can find this and other things about parent managed accounts in  FAQ on Gorilla tag web page

Bizarrely my child, using a parent managed account CAN hear other children talking in the game? But she can't communicate herself or do all of the other things that she shouldn't be allowed to do......

It's just making her confused as to why she can hear other people talking but she can't......

Surely this restriction should make it impossible for her to hear what the other children are saying?

If she is old enough to talk or her meta account is set older than her real age then she most likely can talk of she either 1.unmutes herself 2.hasnt realised she is on push to talk mode 3. Gorilla tag has been updated to make parent managed accounts able to hear others , the age to talk and hear is 13 , it doesn’t matter if your parrnt managed or not if your over  or at the age of 13 , hope this helped!

I don’t think many people understand that a year for a 30 year old feels way shorter than a year for a 12 year old since a year for a 30 year old is 3.33% of their life but for a 12 year old it’s 8.33% of their total life I get that you have to add the security feature by law I just want to share this perspective to show how significant these changes can be for younger users

Hi bestparent101 ðŸ™‚

You are right, time runs different for an adult or a child.
But fact is, you have to be 13 years old to play the game and only adding these restrictions allows 10-12 year old to play it.

That killed a favorite game that my boys wanted to play every day. It would have been great if it was a parental option instead.
