Question

RTX 4070 (AD103, PCI ID 10DE:2709) wrongly flagged as incompatible hardware by Link v207

Summary

The Meta Horizon Link PC app shows "You won't be able to use the Link feature, as your system's hardware is incompatible with it" on a desktop with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070. The card passes every individual check in the service log but is marked FAIL because the Link GPU whitelist only lists the RTX 4070 under PCI device ID 2786 (AD104). Newer RTX 4070 cards built on the AD103 die report device ID 2709, which is not in the whitelist.

System

- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB (MSI), PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2709&SUBSYS_51381462&REV_A1

- GPU driver: NVIDIA 610.47 (32.0.16.1047), dated 19 May 2026

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 (whitelisted, reported MINSPEC/WHITELISTED in log)

- RAM: 32 GB

- OS: Windows 11 Pro 26200

- Meta Horizon Link PC app: v207 (OVRServiceLauncher 207.0.0.133.434)

- Headset: Meta Quest 3, connected over USB-C Link cable, enumerates fine

- Motherboard: MSI B650M GAMING WIFI (MS-7E30)

Evidence from the service log (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Oculus\Service_*.txt)

- OVRServer "Compat Info" block: OverallResult_str = FAIL, VideoCardResult_str = FAIL

- Entry for the RTX 4070: WhitelistName = "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070", IsDriverCompatible = true, PassHybridCheck = true, VulkanCapable = true, HybridGraphicsStatus = Success, yet Compatibility_str = FAIL

- OAFInterface: "GPU name: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, Compat result: FAIL, Driver Version: 32.0.16.1047, ProductId: 2709, RevId: a1"

- CheckGPUDriverVersion: "NVidia driver 32.0.16.1047 is sufficiently greater than the minimum spec version"

Evidence from the downloaded compatibility data (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Oculus\Compatibility.json, downloaded 19 Sep 2026)

- VideoCardWhiteList contains exactly one RTX 4070 entry:

{"Name":"NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070","Vendor":"NVIDIA","PID":"2786","SubsysVID":"Any"}

- No entry anywhere in the file has PID 2709.

- Other cards with multiple silicon variants do have multiple entries (for example GTX 1070 has 1B81 and 1BC1), so this looks like an omission for the AD103-based RTX 4070.

Background

NVIDIA began shipping RTX 4070 cards using a cut-down AD103 GPU (device ID 10DE:2709) in 2024 alongside the original AD104 version (10DE:2786). Same product name, same performance class, different PCI device ID.

Requested fix

Add a second whitelist entry for "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070" with PID 2709 to the Link compatibility data.

Impact

Link and Air Link are unusable on affected PCs even though the hardware exceeds the recommended spec. Users see a full-width "hardware is incompatible" banner with no further explanation.

False. Link/Airlink will still work regardless.
