Android 17 fails to recognize Meta Gen 2 as a phone

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing an issue connecting my Meta Gen 2 Glasses to my Motorola Signature running Android 17. It was working fine until the update.

The Problem:

The glasses stream media audio perfectly, but the phone completely fails to recognize them as a phone/calling device.

What I have already tried (and did NOT work):

  • Cleared the phone's Bluetooth system app storage and cache.
  • Cleared the Meta View app cache, uninstalled, and reinstalled it (ensuring all Nearby Devices, Phone, and Contact permissions were granted).
  • Performed a full hardware factory reset on the Meta glasses (using the 5-press capture button method) and re-paired exclusively through the Meta View app.

Despite doing a clean setup from scratch, Android 17 continues to handshake the glasses strictly as an audio peripheral rather than a hands-free communication device.

Has anyone else encountered this specific Bluetooth profile issue on Android 17, or is there a known ADB command or hidden setting on Motorola devices to force-enable the Hands-Free Profile (HFP)? Any help would be appreciated!

An update - If I bypass the Meta App and connect directly to the phone, it works well
