Celebrity voices vanished with update?

I noticed after the latest android update that all but one Celebrity voice has vanished. I had Judi Dench before the update but after she and all but the default male/female and Deepika are gone.

I've tired the go-to steps. Cleared cache, unpaired, uninstalled, re-installed, etc. No change.

I've seen some older topics about this... anyone get a solution?

Hope to hear a solution to this. I had Judi Dench too. I’ve been told if I am in the UK Judi is available but the option isn’t there. I’ve also unpaired etc.

I had Judy Dench as well. I just don’t want an American voice over. Can it be fixed? Puts me off the glasses a bit now TBH

Most likely what is happening is that Meta is introducing subscription plan tiers for its AI, and I anticipate it will paywall all the celebrity voices.

That would be highly depressing but not shocking.

That said I've seen two other recent explanations:

Meta removed the celebrity voices when they changed to AI Studio.

The licenses expired.

Nothing official and it looks like both of those came from asking the meta ai so there's no telling.

I can tell you there's no way I'd pay for another subscription, even more so with whatever overpriced plan they end up dropping.

I am not paying for another subscription after spending $$$ on the Meta glasses alone. What bothers me is that they didn't inform me about this in the update. If I'd known, I wouldn't have upgraded. Furthermore, the celebrity voices were one of the best features!! Having Keegan Michael Key as my voice was familar to me, now i have a stranger!! I am looking to downgrade back to the last firmware. SHAME ON YOU, META!! If true, it was a terrible business decision!!

I checked again this morning and the voices were back! Found them under the Device Settings, Under Experiences > Meta AI > Language and Voice.

Funnily enough they still don't show up under the Voice settings on the main settings page.

They got rid of John Cena along with the other celebreties and now its just some generic male and female voice along with some indian chick.. Whats up with that? The male voice is annoying and the volume seems way too low, even when turned all the way up.

Did meta tweak the volume settings with this recent update? Im not super happy about it...

Well, I can say the voices have vanished from the glasses voice selection as well. We're back to being stuck with the two generic voices.

it’s so frustrating when your not American to have British words mispronounced

Exactly, being English UK and yet no English UK voices 🙄 I live in hope when there’s an update.

Scene 1: A drab government office labelled "MINISTRY OF SILLY VOICES - Complaints Division".

Mr. Pringle: Excuse me, I'd like to file a complaint. My Meta glasses have lost Dame Judi Dench.

Clerk: Lost her? As in misplaced? Did you check under the sofa?

Mr. Pringle: No, no - her voice. It's vanished! Poof! Gone! Replaced by a man who sounds like he's narrating a discount mattress commercial.

Clerk: Ah yes, the Great Celebrity Voice Disappearance of 2026. Happens all the time. One moment you've got Judi Dench guiding you through your shopping list, the next - WHOOOOSH - she's off to do Shakespeare in the cloud.

Mr. Pringle: But I'm British! My glasses now pronounce "scone" like "scohn". I can't live like this.

Clerk: Right, well, let's bring in the Voice Inspector.

Scene 2: Enter Sir Nigel Pompington‑Smythe, wearing a monocle and carrying a large butterfly net.

Sir Nigel: Stand back! I am trained in the capture and restoration of wandering celebrity voices. Now then - when did Dame Judi last speak to you?

Mr. Pringle: Yesterday. She told me I had "one new notification" in a tone that made it sound like a BAFTA announcement.

Sir Nigel: Classic Dench. And then she disappeared?

Mr. Pringle: After an update. All the celebrity voices vanished! Even the glasses themselves admit it.

Sir Nigel: Updates. Nasty things. Always sneaking about, removing beloved features, adding things no one asked for, like "Generic American Voice #2".

Generic American Voice (off‑screen): Howdy! I'm here to help y'all with yer settin's!

Mr. Pringle: See? He just appears. Like a cowboy-themed poltergeist.

Scene 3: Sir Nigel waves his butterfly net dramatically.

Sir Nigel: I shall attempt a Voice Summoning. Ahem… Oh Dame Judi, spirit of British diction, return to this man's wearable technology!

A faint, elegant whisper fills the room.

Judi Dench Voice (ethereal): I was available in the UK, but the option isn't there.

Mr. Pringle: Judi! You're back!

Judi Dench Voice: Only temporarily. My licensing contract is currently trapped in a bureaucratic oubliette.

Sir Nigel: Yes, well, Meta's licensing department is run by three penguins and a malfunctioning fax machine.

Scene 4: The Clerk returns with a clipboard.

Clerk: Good news! We've found your voice. Bad news: it's only accessible through a menu hidden behind another menu, behind a setting labelled "Experiences > Meta AI > Language and Voice".

Mr. Pringle: But why isn't it in the main voice settings?

Clerk: Because that would make sense.

Scene 5: Chaos ensues.

Generic American Voice: Y'all sure you don't want me instead?

Sir Nigel: Back! Back, foul accent!

Judi Dench Voice: I must go now. My people need me.

Mr. Pringle: But Judi! Who will pronounce "aluminium" properly?

Judi Dench Voice: Certainly not him.

Generic American Voice: A‑LOO‑MINUM!

Mr. Pringle: AAAAAARGH!

The lights fade. A caption appears: "And now for something completely different: a subscription plan."

Thanks Steve for that.
However having just deleted and re installed the update there is still no UK English. There is Australian and Indian but no British!!!

I have opted for Australian in the absence of British.
