Question

Oakley Vanguard - IP67

The Oakley Vanguard sunglasses are rated IP67.

The IP67 standard states that an object with this rating can remain submerged in water at a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes.

Therefore, I deduce that the Oakley Vanguard sunglasses can remain underwater at a maximum depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes... meaning they are suitable for kitesurfing, and even if they remain submerged for a few seconds at a depth of 30 centimeters during a fall, there will be no problem.

Can someone confirm this?

Thanks in advance.

I tried few days ago... kitesurfing with my Vanguard... And, so far so good, everything seems to be OK
Let's test another kite session in the coming days

Yes you are right with the IP67.

Even though the certificate of water resilience is NOT for seawater!

But yeah go for a short test. We're awaiting your report;)

If they fail, don't tell Meta you went kite surfing. Just say it was a little bit of sweat πŸ˜‰.

Here are the videos… and as you will see, the Vanguard only touches the water for a few milliseconds, no more…

I don't know how to share those videos on this forum... hence don't hesitate to do it

You might be right... although IP67 means the device can be submerged 1 meter for 30 minutes... so much more than half a second at 15 centimeters.

So, as the Vanguards are IP67 rated... they must withstand kitesurfing and other water sports of that nature.

I dive into water with it during a Spartan race. Dunk wall obstacle, you can see in that video at 49sec.
