Detect the rift from Unity SDK?

How do i detect if i have the Rift plugged in with the new Unity SDK version? The (very) old ways of doing it does not work anymore since so much has changed, which are not surprising : )

if you have already updated the SDK to the newest one, make sure the Oculus Configuration is set to "Extended Desktop to the HMD", under "tools" "rift display mode".
it's the only way it works for me. If i try "direct to HMD" mode it doesn't recognize the rift and the light on rift stays orange(both the Rift and the camera looking thing have to have steady blue light).
just so you know, whit this setting, you will most likely have to play most game with the Rift as your main monitor (kind of a pain). i say most games because some demos work perfectly with the rift as secondary monitor, but games like Skyrim and Elite i have to switch the Rift to primary monitor.
Also, in my Nvidia control panel i have to rotate my Oculus rift display 90 degrees, because somehow the default setting of the DK2 is tilted 90 degrees the wrong way....really weird. Still, it does work with all these tweaks.

I'm moving this to general development as it does not seem to be Unity related.
