DllNotFoundException oculusplugin.dll

Hi,
When I play the Unity demos in my windows I have an error of dll not found.

All the Unity demos say the same error from the output_log.txt.

DllNotFoundException: C:/Users/Alvaro/Downloads/ovr_unity_0.2.2_demo/OculusUnityDemos/Win_OculusUnityDemoScene_Data/Plugins/OculusPlugin.dll

The plugin is in the indicated folder.

I 'm running in a Windows 7 64 bits native as a BootCamp in a Mac Book Pro.
The other demos works fine, but the .exe unity3d don't work.

I tried with 32 bits coampitiblity, putting the .dll to system32 folder, but allways the same error...:((
Any ideas?

Thanks.
Alvaro

If you have a folder in your plugins named "x86" and the "OculusPlugin.dll" is not in that folder you will get the dll not found errors. At least that was what my problem was.

Close to the same for me. I had my project fail with the "Oculus dll not found" error, after intergating the FMOD package. After your message, I went and checked the plugin folder. Seems FMOD made an x86 folder as well as using the x86_64 folder, whereas the Oculus package only installs an x86_64 folder. Deleted the X86 version, and all seems well in the editor.

btw, duplicating the oculus .dll and .so files from x86_64 to x86 didn't work, I had to fully remove the x86 folder.

    (working on XP, 32bits, though)

i ran into the same issue today.
formated my notebook for using unity3d with it and then had problems with running a demo i build and ran on another pc.

installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Package didnt solve my issue,
but installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package did.

so i just wanted to add this information. it s already in the post of alvaroull, but i first didnt see the difference to the other posts and that he was telling to install 2010.

So i m posting it again ^^ maybe it ll help anyone when searching for it.

After hours of screaming about this type of error message, I finally found that the solution was to install the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64)" - NOT the 2012 version, as this didn't work for me on a Windows 8 machine.

In my case OculusPlugin.dll copied to the Unity\Editor folder had solved problem.

Thanks for pointing this out. Yes, you need to install the Visual C++ 2010 run-time that matches the 32- or 64-bitness of your app (x86 or x86_64). We will make this more clear with the next release.

Here is the x86 (32-bit) version:

Here is the x86_64 (64-bit) version:

If this error occurs in Mac OSX 10.9.4 is there a fix?

    Unity 4.5.2f1

    EDIT:

License error. This plugin is only supported in Unity Pro!

    @vrdaveb:

When I follow the link to install Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable, I get a warning that "A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine."

Shall I leave it alone or downgrade? Because the following error message is persisting:

Failed to load 'Assets/Plugins/x86_64/OculusPlugin.dll' with error 'The specified module could not be found.

@hmiri: Did you check the folder to make sure the DLL is there in the right place?

Yes, I did. It is there...

This might sound odd, but believe me: This keeps happening, but when I switch the Rift off (or on, depending on what state it is in) it goes away.

The 3 attached screenshots show the state of my folders (I removed x86) and their Editor Settings when I click on the dll file.

Now, it is working, but when I launch the Unity 5 Editor fresh, I get a deluge of error messages, including the following:

    Failed to load 'Assets/Plugins/OculusPlugin.dll'
    DllNotFoundException oculusplugin.dll
