spatial audio for headphones

I'm curious to know how others are dealing with this. After reading the BP guide I get the impression that there should be two mics that follow the orientation of the head movement but I'm only aware of the "audio listener" device which doesn't allow for more than one instance at a time.

Unity doesn't offer much documentation about it so does anyone happen to know how it functions or if it simulates an omni-directional, uni-directional, or bi-directional mic? Any info would be really helpful!

Well, both headphones and speakers are regular stereo output speakers, but one big difference should be that headphones will follow your head orientation and speakers would not?

Hopefully i will have enough time to get a WIP thread up today with my Binaural solution for Unity so you can test that out and see what you think : )

Hmm.... well I just checked again and seem to be getting the same results. I tried with two different sets of speakers and they both seem to follow the head movement as the headphones do. Even the cheesy little desktop ones that are set up directly in front of me on the desk appear to follow the orientation correctly (instead of being swapped around).

Try this and "see" if you hear any differences : )

Note: You need to set your os audio output to 44100Hz for it to work properly.

Hey guys, I think a great tool is the Duplex Panner by Element Audio Group.
The Duplex Panner allows users to generate enhanced stereo mixes that create out-of-the head, spatial, and realistic experiences on headphones but without deteriorating stereo playback. Finally a method that bridges the gap between headphones and speaker playback. One mix, two amazing experiences!!

Check out the AES award-winning plugin the Duplex Panner here and become part of a new era in music production by contributing in the Kickstarter campaign!

With your contribution on the Kickstarter campaign, I will be able to fully develop this product to include suggested presets, have a fully functional mono/stereo mode, and most notably be the first all-in-one master bus panner where you can pan all your sources rather than scrolling through all your tracks. Please visit the Kickstarter campaign for more info and don't miss out on the future of music.
