Depends on whether using Unreal over Unity is really going to change your sales figures. If you are going to have the same revenue with Unity, why not go with Unity? A more important question might even be development time, if Unreal is going to save development time then perhaps the 5% is totally worth it.
I'm quite excited about the release of Unity 5. I know it still won't be quite as good as Unreal but it is a great step in the right direction making it an even better value game engine.
Yeah actually I was rather talking about development time and available features. Money-wise it's starting to get more expensive to use UE once you hit $30k revenue mark.
Also consider that staying up to date in Unity costs you 600 bucks every couple years, IF you preorder. And if you want mobile, double all your expenses.
Please keep in mind that my previous post was also before UE4 came out.
However, if you actually publish something, I'm thinking for a small-time indie, U5 might be still a good way to go. There are already so many royalties you have to pay as it is now. Either way though, stick with 1 engine and try not to jump around, that way, you can learn that particular engine alot more efficiently than if you were working with 2 or 3 different engines every year or something. Better to be a master at one engine, than be mediocre at several IMO.
