unity preview window issue

Hi All,

Working with DK2 and sdk version 0.41 for a while, and today i had some weird display issues.

When i press play to walk around in the scene, i get a black screen on the preview monitor, and the game is now displaying in the hierarchy tab. I had this a couple of times, after rebooting unity things worked fine on the game preview, but today it is stuck and not working. ( only displaying in hierarchy tab)

When i make a build everything looks okey, only now i have my cursor onscreen, so there are things not going well.

I tried to go back to version 0.4.0, same problem. Also installed the 0.3.2 SDK, this looked well. Of course i uninstalled the SDK multiple times, and it did not solve the problem.

So the problem seems to be the new SDK 0.4.1, i had this from the beginning, but it pop ups after i make progress during the building process.

I get nor error reports, so anyone any idea what is happening here ?

**Update**

I tested some other project scenes, same problem, preview scene is visible in hierarcy. When i make a build it looks fine.

    I am having the exact same problem. I was afraid it was due to the 4.6 Unity Beta I am trying out, but apparently not. My Oculus displays inside the Hierarchy window and cannot be moved to the Rift display..


    ***UPDATE*** Disabling DX11 Under Project Settings/Player fixed the issue.

    this fixed the problem, but... what if you are using DX 11 ;-)

    i thought this was fixed in 0.4.1 i had no problems, until today..

    anyway, this will help me for a while.

    Anyone figure out how to make this work if your using DX 11?

    I have recently switched to using DX11 in Unity because of the HUGE performance increase on my development machine(Laptop, Nvidia 735M). The builds with Unity using DX11 will run with the Rift in Direct mode, not in extended. Prior to switching to DX11 I was unable to get any where near a solid 75 FPS on my builds. In DX11, rock solid 75. On the downside, realtime shadows are currently broken in DX11. Unity is aware of the issue and needs to fix something in their rendering path. The FPS increase I saw was not using realtime shadows in either DX11/Direct or DX9/Extended mode.

    The part that stinks about this is I have not found a way to get the editor Game view working with my Rift in DX11. The DirectToRift.exe is the only way I have found to get the output on the Rift in Direct mode. As a workaround, I do my dev work in DX9 with the Game view pushed to the Rift, then switch to DX11 to do a build for performance checking.

    This is a known bug with 0.4.1 and 0.4.0. It should be fixed in the next release. To work around it, you can use DX9 OR follow these steps with DX11:
    1) Tear out the Game view and maximize it on the Rift. Note: only one Game view is supported at a time, so please don't create an extra one on the main monitor.
    2) Restart Unity.
    3) Re-run.
