Now that UE4 is out, does anyone know if UDK(3) will keep getting updates? The Oculus SDK for it is currently at v0.2.4 where all the other SDK's are at v0.2.5.

    UPDATE:
/u/fezvez over on Reddit says UDK is now final. No more updates.

btw in the current build of UE4, oculus support comes out of the box, to see it, simply run your game as a standalone or cook it and run it directly from outside. Once it has been launched, bring up the console. Type in: "stereo on" and alt+enter to get full screen. That's it.

It's coupled with your movement direction as has been already mentioned, but this should get the ball rolling. Just modifying one line of code gets a basic side-scroller with oculus support. Solid stereo in UE4, you can focus on the environment reflections in materials or the roughness on top of them :D

Any easy way to get it on out of the box if the Rift is detected? I'm new to UE4 so I'm wondering if I need a full-source build or is there some simple C++ override I need to add this check on startup?

Default settings include the plugin so on your end there isn't anything extra to do. I just found out the 'stereo on' is redundant. If you have a rift plugged in and you go full screen (standalone play, not in viewport) it will automatically enter rift mode. You can disable this afterwards with a 'stereo off' though.

If you want view separated from movement, you will have to dig into C++ e.g. the example Kris provided.

Looking into Hydra plugins at the moment, will let you know if I get a plugin to work.

The wiki: https://wiki.unrealengine.com/Oculus_Rift says Windows only.

Has anyone got rift support working on the Mac version?

Its only $20 per month. Subscribe, download, cancel subscription. Reactivate subscription after evaluating it. Its a pretty low price for a cutting edge AAA engine.
