UE4 4.5.1 & 4.6.0 integrations with 0.4.4 SDK are published

Hey guys,

Just a notification that new integration is published at viewtopic.php?f=63&t=17714

UE 4.5.1: https://github.com/Oculus-VR/UnrealEngine/tree/4.5
UE 4.6.0: https://github.com/Oculus-VR/UnrealEngine/tree/4.6

The main new feature in 4.6.0 integration: we've added 'VR Preview' mode into the Editor that works the same way as 'New Editor Window' preview mode, but in stereo and in the Oculus Rift. We recommend to use Direct mode for that (Extend mode will limit refresh rate to 60Hz instead of 75, and this will be addressed later).

Thanks guys for answering my questions so diligently :)

Forgive me if i'm mistaken, but shouldn't there be a VR preview mode in the 4.6 oculus integration? I finally built it and debugged it and am running it. No VR preview.

There's also the issue of my FOV being rather small - fading into the edges. Is this something I change in console?

make sure the rift is on before you start the editor(i.e orange light).

    it should then be here.

as far as the vignette around the FOV is concerned you would have to remove the vignette cap from within oculusHMD.cpp IIRC.
but theres no point at the moment as there is still a bug if you do that.

    Thanks opamp.

I just realized the github repo I cloned doesn't have the files "UE4-Oculus.patch, UE4-Oculus, UE4-Oculus-Install". Did I clone the wrong one? Wrong branch?

I just downloaded the ZIP file instead of going through github, and those files are now present. Is this the version I need to build?

Finally, in the instructions at: https://github.com/Oculus-VR/UnrealEngine, I forgot to "download pre-requisite .zip and uncompress it into UnrealEngine directory, similarly how you do it with Epic's .zip files", and so now I feel like I botched the entire process.

Should I rebuild from this ZIP file, and obviously follow the above mentioned instruction? Also, what are the instructions in the UE4-Oculus-Install text file? Those instructions seem altogether different than the instructions on the github site. Forgive me for being confused, i'm so damn new to this.

Would it be totally silly for me to just use 4.7 Preview? Or is it too unstable.

I'm just getting frustrated with the integration.

I am using 4.7 Preview. It seems to work just fine for the features I use.

andrew, that's encouraging. I may try.

artyom17 or opamp: pls help. I'd like to be using the integration if it is the most reliable and best performing version. But I am lost in terms of installing the damn thing. ^_^ <3

4.7 has the VR Preview feature. In an earlier 4.7 preview release, there was a bug with the framerate being locked at 60.

Artyom17 fixed it a few weekends ago (thanks!). That fix appears to be in the latest preview, so you don't have to do the workaround anymore.

    Hi there.

I've looked through the OVR download page and Unreal's github repo which appears to be locked out to me, even when logged in on github.

I simply cannot find where a working download is.

I am not even allowed to follow Epic on github. Very confusing. Pretty sure I haven't been banned for anything as I just started out and haven't been rude or anything like that.

    Any ideas?
