I recently built a VR Billiards demo as a hands-on technical deep dive into Meta's Immersive Web SDK (IWSDK) - https://iwsdk.dev/

Started as a learning exercise, this project was an experiment to better understand the native capabilities of modern WebXR development. I am thoroughly impressed by how robust the IWSDK is, even at its beta v0.4.2 stateβ€”thanks to Felix Zhang and Bela Bohlender for their amazing work on this! πŸ‘

The project recreates a full billiards experience in VR with a strong focus on realism and immersion. Key technical features include:

🎱 Physics & Interactions: Engineered realistic object interactions and physics-based gameplay mechanics.
🎯 Intuitive Controls: Developed a custom cue-control helper to make aiming and striking the balls feel natural and precise in a spatial environment.
πŸ”Š Immersive Feedback: Integrated material-based audio and controller haptics, ensuring collision responses dynamically change based on different interacting surfaces and objects.

Following my recent deep dive into WebRTC architecture, the next major step for this project is to implement peer-to-peer (P2P) networking to bring live multiplayer functionality to the table. πŸš€

The game is already playable and published! You can jump in and try it here:
