Update

The community upgrade is complete! We hope you enjoy the updated user experience! Thank you all for your patience today as we worked through the process.

Community Upgrade & Downtime

We're excited to announce that the community platform will be undergoing a major upgrade on July 9! This upgrade will bring improvements to the performance and user experience of our community, making it easier for you to connect with others, share your thoughts, and get the most out of your community experience.

What to Expect:

  • Starting at 6 am PDT on July 9: the community will be down for a few hours while we perform the upgrade. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience.
  • After the upgrade is complete, the community will be in read-only mode for a few more hours while we ensure everything is working smoothly. During this time, you will be able to read existing content, but you won't be able to post new comments or create new threads.
  • Once the read-only period is over, the community will be fully functional again, and you'll be able to enjoy all the benefits of the upgrade.

Benefits of the Upgrade:

  • Better Performance: Our upgraded platform will provide faster load times and a more responsive user interface.
  • Enhanced User Experience: The new platform will offer a more intuitive and user-friendly design, making it easier for you to navigate and engage with the community.
  • New Features: We'll be introducing some exciting new features and tools to help you get the most out of your community experience.

Community Structure Changes:
We're also making some changes to the Quest Forums to improve the experience for our members, including restructuring the forums to focus on the discussions that our community is most interested in. This reorganization has already started and will continue after the upgrade. This will mean new forums that are more focused on specific areas of interest, and archiving or merging existing ones that are no longer as active and breaking up forums that have become very active. These changes will help bring focus to conversations and make it easier for members to find relevant content and join conversations that interest them.

Thank you

Thank you for all your participation in the community and your understanding and cooperation during this upgrade process. These changes should make our community an even more valuable resource for everyone involved, and we're excited to see how they will shape the future of our online discussions. Stay tuned for more updates, and we look forward to unveiling the new and improved community platform on July 9!

We have had a few restarts that you might have been caught up in. My experience so far has been faster loading times, so I'm hoping you'll experience that too as soon as the dust settles.

maybe 10-12 seconds for a link to load fully... 😐

Like all changes this is going to take me a while to get used to the new forum upgrade.  The format does look pretty good and I'm sure I'll get used to it soon.  Thanks for all your efforts mate and best cheers from Australia.

Er..... it's so horribly slow and clunky to load now!

steve_40  The only thing I've found slower to load is my Notifications.  Rest seems about the same, to me anyway.

Which browser are you using? I was using Edge. Just tried Firefox and performance was good. Need to investigate my Edge settings to find out what's causing the problem.

klburns  I really miss the "all latest posts" option.

I usually open "all recent posts", but that option is gone - or I'm just too stupid to find it - and I was able to read a new post without opening the thread.

Recent forum activity only shows you the thread opening.

Same for notifications:  they do not lead to the post you're notified about, but to the first post of the thread.

Bookmarks and images are gone???

There is a Recent Content on most pages now, including the front page and the Quest Forums page, which has tabs on top for different sorting. I wish the naming was a little better but it's Most Recent (as in the threads with most recent activity), Newest Topics (basically sorting by the date of the first message in the thread) and I think the others are at least intuitive.

I can ask the vendor about the other ones, and if they are missing, what the timing is to restore them.

klburns  one more thing

Forum members have no "send a message" button anymore.... is it supposed to be like that or just not fully upgraded yet?

If you visit a member's profile, there's a Message button on the far right. Is that what you're looking for?

Yes, that's were it used to be, but now I only see this....no matter if I look at it from pc or phone and no matter which profile I visit.

yes, I saw that sorting. That's not what I mean.... we had a page that showed every new post individually.

I found this was a great way to see all posts..... but maybe I'm the only who used the forum this way.

I think I see what you mean now. I'll ask the forum vendor about that option.

Looks like I need to rewrite my dark mode mod. The only bit of it that still works on the new design is the main page background.
