Lying down (Quest 2 and Quest Pro only)

We’ve added a new feature that allows you to use your Quest 2 or Quest Pro headset while lying down. Kick back, relax and recline for casual experiences including media playback and stationary immersive gaming. You can enable this feature by going to Experimental in Settings and selecting the toggle next to Use Apps While Lying Down.

Once enabled, you can use this feature by laying down and then pressing and holding the Meta or Oculus Menu button to reset your view.

TomCgcmfc Not for now...
Got the 2nd update for v62 two days ago (after 2 weeks holiday).

With v62 I've got the firmware update one week later, after beeing announced.
(which was pretty fast... sometimes it lasts up to a month with Q2)

If I should guess: next tuesday/wednesday 😉

JustHangingOut Well what does having features matter when the debris error keeps popping up? Making the device UNUSABLE for anything.

Do you hear yourself? Saying I'm selfish. You are doing the exact same thing. You want lying down mode. Guess what it won't matter because of the debris error. I want to play PCVR but it doesn't matter because of the debris error. We all want to be able to use the $799.99 device that we paid for. But we can't because of Meta's incompetence. They keep adding features and changing data collection and other bull**bleep** but they won't fix the debris error. They are stupid. What is the point of all that when everyone's device is bricked?

Its like someone asking how are you and you tell them that you like waffles. Completely unrelated and irrelevant.

It's come to my attention that this thread has gotten a bit off topic. Let's please keep our comments respectful and on topic to the thread, as we want those who are looking for information on v63 to be able to easily find the information they're looking for. If you think that another user's posts do not belong in a thread, please utilize the report feature so a moderator can take a look. If you're experiencing the USB Debris/Water warning on your headset, please look for updates regarding the resolution of that issue in the (Not Resolved) Known Issue - V62/63 USB-C Debris/Water Warning  thread. Please keep in mind our rules as well: Forum Rules. Thank you!

I didn't even know what this "USB-C debris/water warning" was all about.

I use Q2/Q3 with the original link cable (power only when needed during AirLinking and standalone use) or a standard USB-B/C cable in combination with the Anker power bank. So this problem only occurs for some users, not all or most (there are millions of devices!).

But what does this have to do with releasing new firmware?
Especially when there is a dedicated thread accepted as a “(unresolved) known issue”?
Complaining about this in other threads is just poor minded, so please stop that now.

Thanks.

I'm much more surprised that the two features even justify a new release... compared to all the previous ones, it's rather "thin", right?

Buetigame "But what does this have to do with releasing new firmware?"

The firmware caused the debris error. And they've released another update (this one v63) and its still not fixed. That's what it has to do with it.

When people come in this thread they'll see the incompetence on display from Meta. And potential buyers will not purchase the device.

I think it's clear that the Quest 3 will get the laying down mode, I think people need to understand they are different devices using different technologies, each having unique hurdles. It could be the Quest 3 just has a stubborn bug which needs fixing or perhaps the laying down mode will be more expansive and rolled in to a larger update such as the airplane mode

Yeah, nobody likes waiting but it's better to have a better quality update than a shoddy one which is fixed down the road, because that's just tech-debt and that sucks for everyone involved.
