Oh, I got firmware PTC v54 now.

I don't see difference except bluetooth shortcut.

With one large exception in my case which is it still won't connect to my Wi-Fi 6E network, this is feeling like a good update so far.  It seems to fix a lot of the performance/stuttering issues I was experiencing with settings/browser/other native apps.  It also is working very well with my controllers in the ~2 hours I've tested so far, no tracking issues.

I noticed strange visual artifacts appearing when enabling sliced encoding with h265, perhaps that's not the primary use case but it's something I saw.  I'm very happy for an easier way to choose between AVC and HEVC too.

In regard to Wi-Fi 6E, it would appear band steering is still not properly functioning client side as the device is connected to my network with WPA3 encryption but will not jump to the 6GHz band.

☝️ also encountered this on my Quest2. 5ghz Oculus Airlink to 7900xtx.
The artifacts imply the decoder does not reassemble the slices ordered by their parent frame.

Unsure how to capture footage of this or a screenshot ..

- Imagine a large video stretched over a wall of smaller TVs, but the TVs aren't quite playing in sync, that's pretty much how sliced encoding looks currently.

After v54 it dropped me on my wifi 6e network, then could not find it for about 6 minutes. Prior to that it would never not find the network, but would sometimes drop off the 6e. Going to test more tomorrow, but that was a bummer. I have a top tier Asus router and I find it hard to believe its the router.

ok the new clock font on oculus dash is cleaner.. see very few changes in 54. what should we be testing? is there a log?

personally i hate to see the dumb avatar mirror added to more home spaces. i liked my cozy little koi pond dojo how it was.

is magnify glass icon on dash meant to have a function? clicking does nothing

mixxed reality room setup button does not seem to work anymore. maybe that's unrelated to the update.

codec-selection in oculus debug tool is neat i guess but people who cared were already just editing their registry. still see the distortion curvature menu options are inverted (high menu option sets low, vice versa), fun

will keep exploring...

Got v54ptc on my Q2, QPro, and Oculus desktop app today.  So far standalone and pcvr with air link seems to be working ok.  I don’t see any obvious improvements and it’s still a little cranky going back and forth to air link.

The Quest home app panel still show everything unless you hit the new top right icon and the you get a listing of installed apps.  Not any benefit to have to do this over the earlier versions that made you go fro m All to Installed imho.

There still seems to be a battery management problem with my Q2.  It never seems to want to go much above 80% and I never see a green light.  With my elite battery strap it’s the same and when I power down it just continues to try to charge the headset battery instead of powering down.  Must Be an android 12 bug that appeared with v51 final.

At least everything seems to be working ok with my QPro, albeit I don’t see any improvements over v53ptc.  Pretty hard to identify any changes without release notes imho.

i9 13900K water cooled, RTX4090, Z790 MB w/wifi6e, 64Gb 6400 ram, 2x2TB SSD, 1000W PSU, Win 11, QPro, Q3, w/Link and Air Link, Vive Pro1 with 2x2.0 base stations, Etsy lens mod and Index Controllers

Totally agree it would be nice to know what they have done in this release apart from add a new feature to experimental features called custom skybox view where you can add your own pictures for home enviroments which i cant even get to work

Hi, I found a bug and for people who use their Quest for Workouts/Fitness it's a rather serious one: After updating to PTC v54, Oculus Move is not able to track my burned calories or my activity time anymore. Played some rounds of Beat Saber, Synth Riders and Ragnarock, but nothing. It stays at 0, no matter how fast I swing my Touch controllers around.

Is anyone able to confirm this?

Same is happening to me and it is about to ruin my  perfect move calendar since June 21 2022. I’m livid.

Unstable H265 Air Link(since v53) is still there!! More unstable on v54.

Whaaaat!? It doesn't happen at 180Mbps, it happens at 185 or 190Mbps. Transfer time becomes extremely unstable and latency fluctuates wildly (encode time & decode time are stable). In the first place, latency rises when looking up simply even at lower bitrate (not become unstable, though).

I was able to use H265 at around 240Mbps before (not setting value, actual bitrate was 240Mbps), but currently if I use such a bitrate, transfer time become so terrible & unuseable.

This is H265 problem. On H264, transfer time doesn't become unstable even at 500Mbps. It doesn't become unstable and not rise when I look up. What's happening on H265?

And this problem is still there, too. Disconnect & restart... v53 brings big problems. πŸ˜•

I am also noticing my lying down mode is also gone from the accessibility section… It’s getting worse and worse.

Could I please ask you to explain the rationale behind the decision for the changes to the Apps list? It seems to be moving in the wrong direction (less configurable).

I've got experience working with UX and I *know* the arguments for simplifying designs. But you can do that without punishing "power users" (which nowadays seems to mean everyone apart from complete beginners).

Please reconsider. I want my Apps list sorting/filtering defaults the way *I* want them.
