PTC v55 Release Megathread

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v55 is starting to roll out for Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 soon. Thanks everyone for all your feedback on our previous builds, we several bugs were identified in the last PTC and the solutions for some have shipped, while others are on the way!

Let's use this thread for collecting feedback on v55. Share your impressions and let us know if you see any issues. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting here if you notice anything going wrong.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

Has anyone noticed that tracking precision of Pro controllers has worsened in v55? Just browsing in menu and one controller becomes higher and more forward than another one, while I'm holding them next to each other. It feels very uncomfortable in games - when you move your arms and notice that an ingame arm moves slightly differently from what you feel.

I'm done with it, I left the PTC but then something strange happened. When I left beta channel and public update has been downloaded, an "Uninstalling" prompt appeared and after a restart the headset was reset - I lost all my apps, guardians, all the data, I had to see the tutorial once again. It looked like a factory reset but I didn't have to log into my account - I stayed logged in. So, it's weird. Who else had rolled back to a previous version - is it a normal behavior that you lose all the data and apps or was it some sort of factory reset?

Exius86 Ya, that's normal behavior when you roll back to a previous version update.  Bit of a pain, esp. if you haven't any cloud saves already in place.

I did notice a little controller instability when I first went to v55ptc with my QPro and Q2 but this seems to be slowly improving after a number of restarts.  If you go with a Beta update I think it worthwhile playing with this for at least a week before throwing in the towel, lol!

Oh, so it wasn't a factory reset. So, I still should perform a factory reset to get a clean install of public v54 and get rid of all unstable PTC versions residuals, right?

Been in PTC for several months but every last update became worse and worse. Don't want to risk my hardware and gaming experience anymore. Just want a stable firmware and stop updating it at all. Every update is like a lottery - you never know what's ruined this time.

OK so the headset still says V54 yet I have some of the changes like the lousy app library, etc.  Should it say V55 or V54?

When you revert now, it will go to v54 since that's the latest public release.

The crappy App Library started in either v53 or v54. I hate it so much!!!

Well I got V54 three days ago and for some reason I didn't notice the crappy library.  I signed up for PTC yesterday for the heck of it.  I do not plan to revert.  Mine still says V54 so I must have not gotten V55ptc yet.

I opted out of PTC due to lots of airlink drops and just general issues. When i did the opt out, it factory reset my device, but I couldnt resist v55 so i got back into the ptc and all the issues I had were mostly gone. wifi 6e still blows but all the airlink drops I was having are gone, as long as i stay on wifi 6(5ghz). So factory resetting does help if you are having issues. I have a Asus GT-AXE16000, and a nighthawk AXE300 both drop me telling access point temporarily full. I know its a quest pro issue, and not my router, but wifi 6(5ghz) is pretty rock solid.

No need to factory reset unless you are still having issues.  When you opt out of PTC and go back to a previous version it basically does a factory reset anyway.

A couple of times one controller doesn’t register when picking it up from sleep. I found if you close the headset down, return it to the charger and then reboot they are both there.

HI,
you can rest assured, everything is normal.
on the basis of personal experience and what is written in the explanatory page of the ptc, the exit from the ptc foresees a rollback to the latest stable firmware which in this case should be v54, and a factory reset.

The other day I posted about my App library missing the the drop down menu (found it after hitting the search bar) then over the last few day's I noticed a few post's about problem's with APK's installing etc ?!? Now the real question is this.... Is meta finally locking the headset down (doing an Apple) ? No more sideloading ! so long, fair well and thanks for all the fish ! Sidequest ?

Since the update to v55 I experience many issues on my quest pro:

- with my right controller (drifting, not in sync, it's never as well tracked as it uses to be, this is my first time having issues with those controllers now.

- guardian and mixed reality: creating mixed reality room is at a loss: defining those things as a lamp or plank, or anything and the selector line is out of place, not where it should be. The pro totally misses the depth...or is this a test to quest 3 which has a depth sensor?

- trying to create the floor level, the dialogue window 'jumps' or rapidly move position, like I can't select anything. This happens too in the initiatlization of mixed reality

- refresh rate issue? when moving the menu, text doesn't folow so well, it's hard to describe but it's laggy.

I whish there was a rollback option without the need to reset to factory defaults and go back to v54 which worked fine enough in my case while opting out of PTC.

Can't install an apk directly from the headset. It crashes before to install...
