Community & Posting Guidelines

Welcome to the Developer Forums. Meta provides this space for VR, AR, and MR developers to connect, share insights, and get support while developing apps for Meta Quest. To keep discussions productive and helpful, we ask that everyone follow these community guidelines.

Stay On-Topic
  • Before creating a new thread, use the Search field to see if your question has already been answered.
  • Post in the most relevant category for your topic.
  • Choose the most relevant tags for your post. You can choose more than one if your post relates to multiple topics.
  • Keep discussions related to Meta Quest development and build tools.
Write Clear and Detailed Posts
  • Write clear, specific titles that summarize your question or topic. Avoid vague titles like “Help!” or “Question” and opt instead for titles like “Help Using Passthrough API in Unity” or “How Do I Implement Colocation?”
  • When asking for help, include details such as the steps you’ve taken, the errors you’ve received, and the expected vs. actual results. If you need support or are reporting a bug, read this post.
  • When responding to a post, aim to provide helpful, informative answers rather than opinions. Include screenshots, code snippets, or links to documentation wherever possible.
Report Issues in the Correct Channels
  • If you see a post violating these guidelines, report it directly, rather than engaging in arguments. To report a post, click the … icon on the top-right corner of the post and select “Report,” which will open a dialog for you to provide a reason and details.
  • Use the appropriate channels for bug reports and direct support instead of spamming multiple threads. If you’re unsure whether your question should be a forum post or a support ticket, see this guide. For more information about getting support, see this post.
Be Respectful and Constructive
  • Treat all members with respect. Disagreements are fine, but keep discussions professional and productive.
  • No personal attacks, harassment, hate speech, or inflammatory comments.
  • If providing feedback, be constructive—help others improve, don’t tear them down.
No Spam or Self-Promotion
  • Avoid excessive self-promotion.
  • Do not post ads, promotions, or affiliate links.
No Sharing of Confidential or Inappropriate Content
  • Do not share private or personal information (yours or others’).
  • No NSFW, offensive, or illegal content.
Keep Discussions Collaborative

The goal of this forum is to foster collaboration among developers, so keep your contributions focused on helpful solutions, best practices, and constructive discussions. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in warnings, content removal, or either temporary or permanent bans from the forums.

Please note that by participating in these forums, you agree to abide by Meta’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, as well as our Code of Conduct for Virtual Experiences.

Thank you for doing your part to make this a friendly, helpful, and productive space for all developers!
