quest 3s IR lights not turning on

i normally use my quest 3s in a pitch black room to help with light leak, but for whatever reason, for a few days now, i have noticed that it doesn't work at all, due to the IR lights on the front of the headset not lighting up. i dont see the purple glow in the reflection when i hold my phone up to the headset. this happened a few days after i got the new v81 update, and the 'show keyboard' option in the devices tab is off.

  • Hi! I think I've found a solution to this problem! I searched through the settings for a long time, so I was also very tormented by this problem. It turns out that in the settings you need to select the "Link" tab, then in this tab you need to disable "Suggest to connect" setting (the second one in the "Remote Desktop" column). After that, the IR lights will turn on and hand tracking in the dark will work. Honestly, I don't see absolutely any connection between this setting and IR lights, but we have what we have.

i should add that this isnt a major issue, because my Vive base stations light up the room with a lot of IR light, but is still something that would be nice to get fixed

Nonsense. The "Suggest to connect" setting has been there forever, not from v81, and my controller and hand tracking work in the dark regardless of whether I have that setting on or off. That setting is merely to turn off the pop-up message that informs you that a virtual desktop connection is available.

I use an English translator, it usually translates the way it wants to. I have all the settings in my language, I didn't know what they were called in English. And anyway, I didn't write about controllers, but about hands, hand tracking in the dark. The IR lights always work with active controllers, but not always in hand tracking mode, and this is one of those settings that currently, for some reason, disables the IR lights for hand tracking.
