Question

Extremely frustrating return issue

I keep getting the notification that my time to return my advance return is slowly counting down meanwhile I have the defective quest controller packed up ready to go but no return label. I have been emailing and going through chat to get them to put in writing it’s not going to be charged to no avail. I will now be contacting my credit card to dispute this charge as soon as possible. Super disappointed in meta for this.

It's very frustrating I'm sure! OK, try this link to actually talk to a human Meta Support person directly rather than an AI.. Have your information ready and explain your situation.

There are three methods to contact them. I advise going with WhatsApp first. Good luck!

Thank you. I’ve tried the regular chat and now WhatsApp I thought it was going to be resolved through WhatsApp they even sent an email with instructions and I have 30 days to return but they told me it was just a copy of the original so the 17 days to return is still active 🤦🏻‍♀️ and no shipping label attached 😭

I can’t ask that purolator can pick up either as per the instructions because I have no shipping label. Around and around I go….

Be persistent, email support every day, maybe even twice a day, telling them again and again and again that you need the label.

Read the thread below..... they eventually were successful. And although it's actually a nightmare, you might have some fun reading it.😂

Still no answer they say they sent the emails with the return labels but I can confirm there is nothing attached 🤦🏻‍♀️

Take a screenshot of the email showing that there is no attachment and send it to support.

It’s a month later and I’ve been charged now and I still do not have a functioning left controller. This is the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.

It's really bad. Unfortunately you should be prepared to be waiting another couple of months. From other posts on this it looks like 3 months is the standard wait time.

I genuinely think Meta Store Support has given me the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. This has been going on for nearly TWO MONTHS over one left Quest controller.

Short version of this absolute circus:

  • My original left controller developed an intermittent fault, so Meta approved an advanced replacement.
  • The replacement Meta sent me arrived defective.
  • Meta then couldn’t get me the correct return label despite me repeatedly contacting them. While they were sorting that out, my original controller temporarily started working again.
  • Meta eventually gave me a label and explicit instructions to return the defective replacement instead. I followed those instructions exactly.
  • Their 30-day deadline expired during this mess and they charged my card anyway.
  • When I returned the defective replacement, Meta repeatedly demanded a drop-off receipt. Purolator confirmed IN WRITING that no such receipt exists for this prepaid return and that the tracking number is the proof of shipment.
  • Meta then repeatedly asked me for the RMA number and shipping label that Meta themselves had generated and provided to me.
  • Eventually the defective replacement reached their warehouse and they agreed to reverse the charge.
  • Meanwhile, my original controller’s intermittent fault returned and it finally died completely. So after all of this, I STILL DIDN’T HAVE A WORKING LEFT CONTROLLER.
  • After countless emails, chats, “rest assured,” “we’re investigating,” “we’ve escalated this,” and “thank you for your patience,” someone FINALLY read the entire case, understood what happened, agreed troubleshooting was finished and offered me a Standard Replacement.
  • I specifically chose Standard because I was not putting another authorization hold on my card after the first disaster.
  • Meta told me IN WRITING that once I shipped my dead original controller, “your replacement will be on its way to you the moment the package is scanned as en route.”

So I shipped it immediately.

Purolator scanned it. It is en route. I sent Meta the tracking proof.

Meta then told me to wait until THEY RECEIVE IT before contacting them again.

I reminded them that this was NOT what we agreed to.

And now, after the controller is already physically in Purolator’s possession and travelling to Meta, another Meta agent has emailed me telling me to USE A DIFFERENT RMA SHIPPING LABEL AND DISCARD THE OTHER ONE.

THE OTHER LABEL IS CURRENTLY ATTACHED TO THE PACKAGE TRAVELLING ACROSS CANADA. 😭

I cannot make this **bleep** up.

I have followed Meta’s instructions to the letter throughout this entire process. I have supplied serial numbers repeatedly, photographs, tracking screenshots, Purolator conversations, RMA information and every other thing they’ve requested. Different agents continually enter the case, contradict previous agents, request information I’ve already supplied, change previously agreed instructions and apparently fail to read what their own company has already told me.

Meta even gave me a $30 Horizon credit for the trouble.

Cool.

I STILL DON’T HAVE A LEFT CONTROLLER.

Nearly two months.

I just want to play Beat Saber and do my **bleep** VR workouts. 😭🎮

Meta, please send me the functioning controller you already agreed to send me. This should never have been this difficult.

Firstly, I feel your pain.. Unfortunately this is a common complaint. The rule of thumb is around 3 months or so before you get a replacement.. It's what most people are reporting, awful I know.

Now, you should know..

"Meta, please send me the functioning controller you already agreed to send me. This should never have been this difficult."

Meta are not here, they haven't monitored this forum since the end of 2025. They won't see that. There are no Meta community managers, no Meta moderators, no Meta employees here at all. The forum moderators work for the hosting company Khoros and have no interaction with Meta.

We are all just users like you and we volunteer our time to help troubleshoot headset issues. We can't do anything about shipping delays.

Finally, please, despite your understandable frustration, do not SHOUT in this forum, you're only shouting at other users and if the system flags it, you might get banned. Just a friendly heads up.

I do hope you get your controller back soon, I know it would drive me nuts! Sometimes it can be better just to get it fixed yourself, for the extra few dollars, you'll save yourself a lot of heartache in the future! Good luck! 🍀🍀🤞🤞

I am unsure how to delete the other one that was duplicated somehow. It was unintentional. Also thanks for letting me know the meta doesn’t even see any of this I had no idea 😱

No problem, all you need to do is edit the other mail and put duplicated accidentally in the header and just delete the text in the body.

Oh I meant to give you an email address for support just in case you haven't tried it already.
