Factory Reset Oculus Quest 2

Hello, New here to everything related to VR.. & the Oculus Quest 2. I recently purchased a Quest 2 from a co-worker. Thought it made more sense to buy it pew-owned than to purchase it brand new, since I was giving it as a gift to my daughter for Christmas. Well, the person I purchased it from never deleted their account off of the device. So, when I got it all set up (or so I thought)... I made an account for my daughter on the app. I then tried to link the headset to the account I had made, but every time I would try to pair the headset to the app, it would always come back with an error, saying it couldn't pair the device. So,  we are on the original owners account, and since we were on the previous owners account when it turns on.... we figured out we could go into the account settings and "shared" the device with my daughters meta account, so she could play a some games, until we could figure out how to pair the device to her account..... I need help trying to get the original owners account information off of the Oculus, so we can set it up under our information so we are able to use the oculus to its full potential, b/c as of right now there is a limited things that we are able to do.I again am new to doing anything in regards Any help would be greatly appreciated. *single mom on the struggle bus, just trying to figure this out, so my daughter can play her new system to its maximum potential* PLEASE SOMEONE HELP MEEEE! or I am very certain my next reach out will be an SOS, due to the emotional roller-coaster of a typical pre-teen!!  LMAO

Thank you in advance!!

        • Could you please provide a screenshot or picture of what you're seeing when trying to pair your accounts?
        • Have you cleared your Bluetooth cache from your phone to ensure a stable connection when pairing?
        • Have you tried restarting your device?
          • To restart your device,
            • Hold the power button down for 10 seconds.
            • After at least 30 seconds, turn your device back on.

Please provide as much information as you can about what you are experiencing. Once we have more information, we will be happy to continue looking into this with you!

        • Hold the power and volume down (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
        • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.

Hello there! You can reinstall the games you had before as long as your cloud backup was on.

  • @sky.cloud.2022 It sounds like you’re almost there, and the good news is that the cleanest fix is simply performing a full factory reset on the Quest 2 so all traces of the previous owner’s account are removed. Once you reset it, the headset will reboot as a fresh device and you’ll be able to pair it directly with your daughter’s Meta account through the app without the pairing errors you’re seeing now. A reset won’t harm the headset, and it’s exactly what Meta recommends when ownership changes, so once you do that, everything should finally work the way it’s supposed to.
