Help

Hello, I need help removing a Quest 2 device that is still listed on my Meta account.
I performed a factory reset on my headset without removing it from the Meta Quest app first.
Now, when I try to pair the Quest 2 again, it shows the same pairing code as before, and the app gives me an error because the old device is still associated.

Please remove the old/ghost device from my account so I can pair my Quest 2 again.

Thank you!

    Hello Danymanofc !

Thank you so much for reaching out, and we're truly sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing with your Quest 2. It’s completely understandable how frustrating it must be to run into pairing issues after a factory reset, especially when all you want is to get back to enjoying your headset.

We’re here to help, and below are the steps we recommend to resolve the issue and remove the device from your account:

Check Your Meta Account Devices List

    Visit auth.meta.com/devices and log in.

Look for the Quest 2 headset still listed under your account.

If visible, select it and choose Remove or Unlink.

    Reinstall the Meta Horizon App

Uninstall the app from your phone.

Reinstall it from the App Store or Google Play.

Log back in and attempt to pair the headset again.

Ensure Headset Is in Pairing Mode

Power on your Quest 2 and confirm it’s showing a pairing code.

Open the Meta Horizon app and follow the pairing instructions.

This might be a fix?? Uninstall and reinstall the Horizon app on the phone. Maybe it will clear it and you can add it again ?🤔

  • So, last night somebody (thank you, O.🙂) told me, the only way he was able to get rid of the device from his account was deleting it in the link app on PC.

Danymanofc  and DancingZdenda  I don't know, if if you've ever linked your Quests to PC.

But if you did, this might be the solution to you, too.

Unfortunately, I don't have my Windows PC anymore. But I did not use the Link app, only SideQuest to copy files. Now I have MacOS only. But the Link app is available to Windows PC only, right?

DancingZdenda  yes, it's only for Windows.

But if you never used the link app, your headset shouldn't be there anyway, because you actively must add the headset that you want use with link.

I'm not sure what's going on here..... why the app still shows your Quest as  your device.

I remember a few weeks ago, a user bought a used Quest and could not pair it to his account....getting the error the device is already connected to an account - after doing a factory reset.

That's why I asked you, if you are able to pair your headset with another/new account.

If this is a bug, Meta definitely have to work on resolving this.
