How do you Factory Reset the Pro Controllers?

Trying to fix the 0% update issue, and I’ve seen people mentioning doing a factory reset on the controllers, but can’t seem to find how to do that.

thanks!

  • Hey hey, NJScorpi0! We just wanted to pop on by to lend a hand with factory resetting your devices. We will gladly provide this information for you! If you follow this link here, it'll provide you with all of the information regarding the factory reset to your headset! We also provided a video linked here to also aid you in your factory reset.

To factory reset the Pro controllers, please try the following:

    1. Right Controller: Hold A and Oculus buttons until the LED begins flashing red/white.
      1. Left Controller: Hold X and Menu buttons until the LED begins flashing red/white.
    2. Release the buttons immediately after the LED begins blinking red/white.
    3. Perform a manual pairing and check if controller LED would flash blue and white to signal pairing state.
    4. Once paired, controllers may take a while to update and stay unresponsive until they finish, and LED would be purple during the update.

I believe you need to do this because both controllers and headset are linked together.

Hey Davidhughey! Thank you so much for reaching out about your Pro controller issue. We would like to verify the exact issue you are having with your controllers. Are you also having an issue with being stuck on 0% update or is this another issue? and if you have already tried some troubleshooting steps, do you mind listing them?

Once we know what's going on with your controllers we will be able to move forward with some troubleshooting steps.

not descriptive enough. clueless, I'm left. It's like the protocol changed.

  • They are talking about factory reset the headset. But it doesn't help. You can try and try and try again and maybe get lucky (I tried 40 times different ways with no luck).

But it's a known issue the stuck updating left and right 0%. Fix should be coming in the form of an update for the headset.

  • Anyone figured out how to solve this issue? I am have the same problem with my controller blinking SOS with a white led. I have tired factory resetting my headset as well as the controllers still will not pair. My controller also will not show up in the Meta app.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there, jwaca12! We know how important it is to have two working controllers, so we'd love to investigate this issue together. Let's work together to get to the bottom of this!

It sounds like the controllers aren't pairing and are not showing up in the Meta app. The blinking white lights could either indicate that they are trying to download something or that it is in S.O.S. mode, as you mentioned. Have you attempted to let them sit, blinking, for a while? If not, we recommend giving them time to do that.

If that doesn't do the trick, please try power cycling the controllers:

      1. Hold down the Oculus/Menu button until you see the lights change.
        • This usually takes about 20 seconds. You should feel the "powering down" haptics, followed by the "powering up" haptics, before releasing the button.
      2. If still not working, press the Oculus or Menu button to ensure the controller is awake and flashing S.O.S. on the LED.
        • The S.O.S. mode will blink in white with the S.O.S. pattern (3 quick blinks, 3 slow blinks, 3 quick blinks).
      3. Restart the headset by holding the power button until the Power Menu comes up. Use the Gaze Cursor to select Reboot.

Manually pair the controller using the following commands:

      1. To enter pairing mode on each controller, press and hold the Oculus+B (right) or Menu+Y buttons (left) for 3 seconds.
      2. You'll feel a light vibration from the front trigger when the controller transitions into pairing mode.

You can also try a couple of button combinations to get the controllers to appear:

      1. Force power off the controllers by holding down the Oculus/Menu button for 8 to 15 seconds.
      2. You should feel the "powering down" haptics.
      3. Turn them back on by short-pressing the Oculus or Menu buttons.

We hope that these steps help. If they don't, please let us know. We are more than happy to continue looking into things together!

Hey again GastonYamantaka, what's the issue that you were originally having with your Quest Pro controllers, that has lead to you want to reset them? Is it the same issue that NJScorpi0  was having?

Knowing this might help me diagnose the problem.

  • once the corporation has your money, support is an afterthought, and a net loss for the company. it's more profitable for them to invest in selling products to new users than to fix or support the existing users/products. this is capitalism 101. all part of the corporate charter. the system is inherently flawed and doomed to collapse because of the prioritization of sustained and continuous ROI for the major shareholders over any other priorities (product quality, support, etc).
