Solved

Meta support doesnt't recognize my Oculus Quest (1st gen) serial number so I cannot get help.

Hello.

When trying to get help of a pairing problem with my Oculus Quest (1st gen) the meta support page ask for my device's serial number but doesn't reconigze any.

I'm using both the S/N from the actual device of the one on the box (they are different) but neither of them is recognized so I cannot open a support request to the meta team.

Greetings.

Version that works with original Oculus Quest.  Suggest uninstalling the app before installing this.  Also need to enable installing apps from other sources on your phone for this to work.  Once setup on the headset is fully complete, just update the app from the play store and everything should be up to date and functional.  Also, I don't think the software the headset was trying to download for part 2/2 in its setup actually downloaded until I updated the app back to the current version.  The version you download here just says unable to reach Oculus servers.

  • Same issue here.  Meta dropped support for the original Quest, so you can't get their assistance with anything.

True.  It boils down to they don't support it and it doesn't generate revenue so they don't really care.  Complaints have been piling up for at least a year about this and we can no longer reach support to file a case so all we can do is this workaround, which may not work indefinitely.  I don't think they have any intention of addressing it.

enricanary ED__209  some Quest users are reporting that they're able to download an older version of the mobile app which allows them to proceed with the setup process.

Happy to confirm it does work with the older app version after wrangling with the Quest for several hours with 2 different phones.  Finally got past that health and safety video.

ED__209  would you post a link to the exact version of the mobile app you used to help others with the same problem.

        Thanks.

  • Yes, at least version number of the app you used as it should be easy to download it from trustly apt mirror.

  • Confirmed your solution using an previous apt of the meta horizon app.

With the old one the videos plays all along so you can finish the pairing.

Is there an apple version or do I have to download it on a android device and then go on with the process. Also can someone please drop a tutorial on how to do it please.I recently got a oculus go from 2018 please provide some help.

Nolimtzchris  unfortunately, there isn't an older apple version but any android phone or tablet will work. After downloading the older APK file onto the phone or tablet, you need to run the APK to install it on the phone and then the safety video will play and allow you to complete the headset setup.

Hello, I have exactly the same issue as you but the solution doesn't work it seems that my quest 1 have a problem. As I read on your topic nobody from meta will help... I have sent an email yesterday but as the product is not recognize I tink I won't have any help. Is anybody have still the issue ?

    Thanks

  • Hello, got my Oculus go running again, via apk Meta Quest version 212. Still I think the app store will be empty for me, as I did not get to useany apps in it and store is not giving me the new to choose from and. Store in oculus GO is just blank screen. I will have to try to get it working again. Did not try to update app again to current version tho.

  • Don't think the APK solution works anymore, as of July 1st it seems that any working version of the mobile app blocks you at the login screen and tells you to update the app to the latest version. 😞 If anyone has a solution to this or another workaround that'd be a huge help.

Ardes_  what version of android are you on as the post above yours has a workaround for android 14. Older phones and tablets still work with the older apps but you might only see the update button as the don't update button is mostly obscured below the bottom of the screen. ipads also still work.

I was able to resolve this by downloading version 276.1.0.22.109 that is compatible with my phone. I initially failed to download it until I found the correct v8 instead of v7 for that version. Thanks for the help!

  • Why meta don't fix it by release new app that support Oculus Go (and another old version) ?

apisak.s  because if you have the issue and can't find this fix for it, you go out and buy a shiny new headset. Kerching!

It is so frustrating- I dont have any android devices and the emulators for PC dont work with bluetooth, so id have to get an android device just to be able to download an old version of the app or get a new oculus- both of which is not worth it.
