Hi @poopybutthole9500, Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention!
The Quest 3 blowing air is usually part of its normal cooling mechanism. However, if this occurs excessively or when the headset isn't in use, it could indicate a problem. In that case, we recommend trying a force shutdown or hard reboot to resolve potential software glitches. If the issue persists, check for overheating and clean the fan.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
- Force Shut Down:
If the fan is blowing when it shouldn't be, try holding down the power button for up to 30 seconds to force a shut down, then wait a few seconds before turning it back on. - Hard Reboot:
If the force shut down doesn't work, try a hard reboot by holding down the power and volume (-) button simultaneously until the boot screen appears. Then, use the volume buttons to select "Reboot Device" and confirm with the power button. - Overheating:
If the headset feels unusually hot, or the fan is constantly running, it could indicate overheating. Make sure the headset is in a well-ventilated area and not exposed to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. - Cleaning:
Dust or debris can sometimes obstruct the fan. Use a can of compressed air to gently blow out any dust from the vents and around the fan area, being careful not to damage any components.
