No Sound After Link Update v83

After installing the newest update for the Link app last night, audio will no longer play through Link. I've tried:

-Uninstalling and reinstalling the app

-Reinstalling the Oculus Drivers

-Repairing the app

-Ensuring the device is working properly through Windows

All to no avail... *Also not opt-in to the PTC

I'm not sure what to really do at this point. Do I have to wait for another update to come around or are there any other possible fixes I can do?

See my post here. I read posts from some users who reported that they had to do the repair twice before they got their PCVR audio back.

I've tried multiple times with it and still nothing, not really sure what's up

  • UPDATE: I replied to this comment with what worked for me!!

I'm experiencing the same issue. I've done all of the steps Mongler12 placed in their initial post and rebooted both PC and headset multiple times. Repaired like 4 times during troubleshooting, and validated that I'm not opted into PTC.

Wondering if this is a "wait-for-patch" type of issue? :(

Dunno if they just pushed something out... or if I just happened to "fix" it. In a "last-ditch" effort, I did the following:

-Unplugged the link cable from my headset.

-Uninstalled the Meta Horizon Link from my PC.

-Went into the following folders and deleted the "Oculus" folder if it existed. [Note: Some of these folders are hidden, and if your install is on a different drive than C:\ you will need to look for it there.]
      ---C:\Program Files
      ---C:\Program Files (x86)
      ---C:\ProgramData
      ---C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local
      ---C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow
---C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming [Note: Under this folder I deleted: Oculus, Oculus Remote Desktop, and Oculus Client.]

-Went into C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Temp and deleted ALL files. [Note: Some of these files may be currently in use by other programs; simply skip all of those when the "error message" flags.]

-Downloaded the latest install app for Meta Horizon Link from the site: https://www.meta.com/help/quest/1517439565442928/?srsltid=AfmBOop6_JXMeX7IHozTwYx8tUtDTKBAn_mI6zxcg5HuHcG5AsubLUMX

-Installed per normal and performed the reboot as requested after the install was complete.

-Opened the freshly installed Meta Horizon Link application and plugged my link cable back into my headset.

-The application will state it needs to be updated, perform this, and the application will reboot. For me, it then said that I needed to update the headset via the application. I did this as well.

-Finally, I put the headset on, connected to my PC via Link, and tested. It worked!

I know it's a lot of steps, and I'm not sure which of these ACTUALLY fixed the issue, but I hope this helps others!

I gave this a try and still nothing. Would you suggest any other options?

  • Hello,

I had the same issue with the last patch, tried all of the OP fixes but without results.

However I did find a solution : i went into Meta Quest Link on my PC, then into "Settings", "Beta", and then I enabled "public testing" (not sure of the name in english, I have my app set in french).

Meta Quest Link then updated, I had to restart my computer and the sound was back again on PCVR.

I hope this can help someone !
