Meta were on a renaming spree, so it got a little more confusing.
The software you want is the Oculus Desktop App, which is here: https://www.oculus.com/download_app/?id=1582076955407037
The website calls it the Meta Quest App, but the same program handles all headsets (Rift CV1, Rift-S, and Quests using Link/Airlink).
It's been a LONG time since I've set up a Rift CV1 without Touch controllers, so I don't know if things have changed. Back then the CV1 came with an XBox controller and a little remote (I really liked the remote, it was handy). I think you'll need one of those to finish the setup. But as I said, been a while since I tried. 🙂
In case you do decide to get Touch later (most VR games these days need them), the CV1 isn't compatible with any motion controller besides the CV1 Touch. The controllers from Quests don't work with it. So finding them is rather hard these days.
