Passcode Issues

Hi, 

My son has had this Meta 3 for a few months then today it is asking for a passcode to do anything. We never set up a passcode but I tried all our usual ones anyway with no success. Now I am worried that the headset is locked out because it won’t pair to the app but I DO NOT want to factory reset this thing. I can log in to account and all that is there anything I can do to get this thing working again?

  • I have the same problem.  Why would the headset decide to put a passcode in place without asking the user ?

      Are you sure the headset is not simply suggesting that you should set a passcode? I got a random pop-up on my Q3 telling me that I should set a passcode. I cancelled the dialogue, so no passcode was set. But the pop-up seems to be manipulatively designed (dark pattern) to make it hard to realize that the setting is optional.

        Hi -  thanks for the reply.  It’s definitely asking for a passcode before using the user profile and there’s no way to get into that profile without entering the code. It’s interesting that you had the prompt mentioned though, as one of my children was using the headset (on their different profile - which doesn’t need a passcode).  Perhaps the headset prompted them for a code and they didn’t realise what was going on.  Just an idea -  even though my son doesn’t recall that happening.
