Quest 3 super low res and pixelated

Just bought Quest 3 and it look very low res, the menu corners are pixelated and sometimes blurry
everything seems pixelated. give me an impression of a PS1 console I had
even the vr virtual environment looks like a 480p youtube video quality.
is it expected or something wrong with my headset

  • As you probably knew the screen resolution of the Quest before you bought it, you probably know something is wrong. Try a factory reset, and if it doesn't fix it, contact support.

Hi ehsan_sarshar and thanks for contacting us.

We understand you're concerned about the resolution of your new Quest 3 and we would be happy to provide some tips to ensure you have the best possible VR experience.

First, clean your lenses: using the dry, clean microfiber cloth, start from the center of the lens and gently wipe the lens in a circular motion moving outwards.

Next, adjust the IPD or set it correctly: IPD stands for inter-pupillary distance, meaning the distance between your pupils. To change the lens spacing on your Meta Quest, gently move the slider under your headset until your view is clear and comfortable. If you know your IPD, this table shows which lens spacing setting we suggest.

You can also check in-game settings as some games may have their own resolution modes and setting that can be adjusted.

These tips should help make your VR environment less blurry and pixelated, however, if you require further assistance, please feel free to get back in touch. You can also send us a private message by select our name to get to our profile page and clicking "Send a Message." Please remember, you must be signed into the community first to send us a private message.

  • Are you sure you are not in passthrough mode using the cameras to see your physical surroundings? Those cameras are indeed quite grainy:

There's a button on the menu bar at the bottom you can click to go to your Immersive Environment/Home. It looks like a pair of goggles (see screenshot above). You can also double-tap your hand on the front of your headset to toggle passthrough mode on and off.

The proper Immersive Environment should look like this:

If the quality of your VR when not in passthrough mode looks like my second screenshot, then your headset is working perfectly.

Then I'd say your headset was faulty and should be returned if it is under warranty. If you know anyone else who has a Quest 3 headset, you could ask them to try yours and get their opinion. Or you could press the Meta button on the right controller and simultaneously squeeze and hold the trigger to start recording what you see (do the same to stop recording) and upload the video somewhere where we could view it.
