Restart to gain access to controller or hand tracking?

Hi,

I have a new Quest 3 (bought 2 weeks ago or so). Since a few days I can't do anything after I've turned it on. I'm seeing the Choose-Profile-Menu, that's it. No Controller, no Hand Tracking. I have to push the On-/Off-Button two times and after that everything is working fine. Any ideas, what is causing this and how I can resolve it? It's not a big deal, but my husband hates it.

  • Cassylein If your husband hates it, then you need to find a new husband. 😂😂😂😂 Only joking, couldn't resist!, 😜Seriously though, that's a new one. Maybe there's a small software error, you can try connecting your headset to your PC and use the Meta Software update tool, it fixes errors like this.

      Cassylein​ try a hard power off and on. While wearing the headset and logged in, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds. The Headset Power menu should appear. Click Power Options>Power off. Wait until the headset has fully shut down, shown the battery charge indicator and then gone fully dark. Now press the power button for about 3 seconds and it should fire up again. See if the headset starts behaving better.

        steve_40 We always power off our headsets this way (as a Gen Xer I'm hating Standbye ;) ).

      Maccyb123​ 😂After 25 years I don't think I can find a better one.

      I've tried your solution, but got stuck with an "Error updating, try again or call support"-Error (Update hangs by round about 25% at the g of "installing").

      I'm currently at version 85.0. Tried Factory Reset too. As soon as there are two profiles (and I tried different profiles) the error occurs. We got a second Quest 3, two profiles, version 85.0 without the problem.

        In that case I'd suggest returning the headset and getting a refund or replacement. Something's definitely not right if you can't complete the forced update.
