VR screen is grey after 5 ish minutes of use on quest link

I’m playing on a meta quest 3 and using quest link with a cable, after around 5-10 minutes of use, my vr screen glitches and turns into a grey screen but on my monitor it’s completely fine, i disconnect the cable from my headset and plug it back in and now quest link won’t start, need to restart pc every time. Only started happening today. Any help?

  • I know what I did now. I removed my second monitor, used the fixer exe tool and repaired my Link App installation. After that, worked beautifully.

Instead of restarting the PC, you could try restarting the Windows service "OVRService" and see if that gets link working again, as it's faster than rebooting.

One thing that can cause unexpected disconnects is the Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling (HAGS) setting in Windows advanced graphics settings. Try disabling that setting if it is enabled on your PC.

You could also try using Oculus Debug Tool to disable Asynchronous Spacewarp.

Seems like a few people are having this issue. Is it only affecting cable connections, not AirLink? What version of Link are you using, and are you on PTC or not?

Report the bug via the Link PC app Help Centre>Provide Feedback.

manny.prerelease68 it looks like there may be a new emerging Link bug affecting cable connections.

  • This is exactly what is happening to me done headset reboot nothing.. only happened since I done new update

  • We also have this issue, tested with 3 different Quest 3 headsets + one Quest pro, on 4 different PC's

yes it did, only started doing this yesterday for me

  • If you are still on v85, maybe try if it works when you enable PTC in the link app and update it to v2.1

Report the bug. I don't think there is a solution yet. But if it's only affecting cable connection, you could try using AirLink until the bug gets fixed.

  • Still broken can only use air link not link 🤮 tried beta channel and still same issue

Was there a Link update, GPU driver update/downgrade, or did you change any Link settings?

  • I have the same problem.

This error occurred for me after updating the NVIDIA driver to version 595.59.

However, because this driver apparently had serious bugs, driver version 595.71 was released shortly afterward.

But unfortunately, this version also exhibits the same error when playing the Quest via cable.

I then reverted to driver version 591.86, where this error didn't occur previously, and can now play normally via cable again.

Simply enter NVIDIA 591.86 into Google and then download and install driver 591.86 from NVIDIA dated January 27, 2026.

  • It randomly stopped happening and I have done nothing to fix it, fixed itself
