"Your device is corrupt it cannot be trusted and will not boot"

Just got my Oculus Go in the mail. Held down the power button to sync and the light appeared for 1 second then shut off. It didn't pair. I plugged the Oculus in my computer to charge it and turned it on, no light showed. I put the Oculus on and saw a screen that said, "your device is corrupt it cannot be trusted and will not boot." I rebooted several times but only got this message. I did a factory reset but to no avail. Eventually, after the 4th or 5th reboot it stopped turning on. I tried to use the AC adapter after that but that didn't work (the battery was on 19%). The charging light doesn't come on. I tried holding the power button for various lengths of times, the longest being a minute and got nothing. I tried just clicking it and got nothing. What is wrong? I really hope I don't have to exchange the headset, I waited a week for it to arrive at my dorm and I just want to play.

an internet search suggest a factory reset is the only option:

How to factory reset from the device

Outside of resetting the device from your phone, you can also reset it with the headset it itself. This will make it quick and easy for you to do what you need to.

    1. Turn off your Oculus Go.
    2. Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
    4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.
    5. Login to the Oculus app with the account you'd like to connect to your Oculus Go headset and set your device up from scratch.
If that doesn't work then you will have to return it, annoying but there isn't much else you can do.

Hi there saw the answer if his headset cannot be trusted then it's locked down meaning that it won't allow him

  • Yes, factory reset will be the best option. If that does not help, try to exchange the device for a new one.

Did anyone happen to read the part where he already tried a factory reset and it didn't work?
    I guess not.
Sorry OP, I have nothing to add either, but at least I'm not going to pretend. I hope the support team can resolve it for you. Open a support ticket, if you haven't already. Might bee considered a DOA device and they should issue an RMA for it, hopefully.
  • Can you take a photo of the error with your phone and upload here?

I just wanted to let you know that the 30second power button thing worked for me. I cannot believe that this fixed my bricked device and that the headset is back to normal. Snappsacks I owe you!

  • Same. Got a my lad a Q3s for Christmas. Corrupt device error message. Will not boot or factory reset.

I just got my son the same thing and it’s says corrupted as well…what a waste

  • We're in the same boat. My 9 year old's Santa present is bricked. Black screen after update. Tried factory reset got corrupt message. Now it's stuck in a USB boot loop.

Its hard to explain to a 9yo that Santa gave him a broken present. Thanks Meta 😠
